The parking garage swallowed the truck's headlights the moment Killian pulled in, and for a few seconds nobody moved, the engine ticking as it cooled, the city noise outside finally muffled down to something bearable.

"Home," Kai said, like the word itself needed testing before he trusted it.

"For now," Erik said, already unbuckling.

They filed out in the same loose formation they'd used all night — weapons still in hand, though the tension had dulled into something closer to habit than necessity. Killian keyed the elevator with more care than usual, checking the corridor twice before letting the doors close behind them, and nobody complained about the extra thirty seconds it cost.
