I focused on the present Miko and Lisa gave me. The comfort of being home, the support of my friends, and the delicious sandwich in my hand. Whatever the future held, I'd face it one step at a time.
As we pulled up to the mansion, Miko turned to me with a mischievous grin. "So, about that dog..."
"Don't push it," I said, but maybe a dog wasn't such a bad idea after all... Not me. An actual dog.
As we pulled up to the mansion gate, I finished the last bite of my sandwich. Miko turned off the engine, and I let out a deep breath. "Home sweet home," I muttered, eyeing the familiar yet imposing building.
"Need help getting in?" Lisa asked, already opening her door.
"Nah, I got it," I said, but I appreciated the offer. "Just glad to be out of that hospital. At least here, I know what to expect. Besides, I'm the Head Maid of the mansion."
Miko raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Head Maid, huh? Even though you're the only maid?"
I rolled my eyes. "Details, details."
Lisa laughed, stepping out of the car. "Yeah, why are you the only maid in this gigantic mansion, anyway?"
I shrugged, walking toward the front gate. "Probably because my bosses are so picky and hard to please. I'm the only one who can handle things around here."
In reality, it might also be because I've accidentally broken a few too many expensive items. But let's keep that between us.
Lisa sidled up next to me, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "Or maybe it's because they just want to eyeball you. You're a cutie, after all." She reached over and pinched my cheek.
I swatted her hand away, laughing. "Oh, please. Flattery will get you nowhere."
Miko opened the trunk and started rummaging through it. "Well, since you're the Head Maid and all, I have a little something for you." She pulled out a dog collar and dangled it in front of me.
I stared at it, then at her. "Seriously? You actually planned out the dog joke?"
Miko grinned. "Of course. Now, come on. Woof woof, bark bark."
I hesitated, looking at the collar like it might bite me. "Do I really have to?"
Miko's grin widened. "Absolutely. It's part of the joke!"
Lisa joined in, laughing. "Yeah, Y/N, just play along. It's all in good fun."
I sighed dramatically, taking the collar from Miko. "Fine, but you guys owe me for this." I reluctantly put it around my neck. "Woof woof, bark bark. Happy now?"
Miko's phone was out in a flash, capturing the moment. I lunged at her, trying to grab the phone. "Miko! You better not—"
Miko tossed her phone to Lisa, who caught it effortlessly. "Oh my god, she's adorable!" Lisa said, looking at the photo.
"I know, right?" Miko chimed in, laughing.
I groaned, giving up and throwing my hands in the air. "Okay, fine. Just please don't spread it around."
Miko and Lisa exchanged a look, then grinned at me. "Of course we won't spread it," Lisa said.
"We'll keep the photo forever, though," Miko added with a wink.
"Great, just great," I muttered, shaking my head but unable to suppress a small smile. They better not spread that photo, or they'll have a good boinking from me.
We finally made our way to the front gate, and I took a moment to appreciate the mansion. It might be a lot of work, and sometimes a bit creepy, but it was my home.
I stopped at the gate, turning to face them. "Alright, thanks for the lift and the, uh, collar."
Lisa grinned. "Anytime. And remember, we're just a call away if you need anything."
Miko gave me a quick hug. "Take care, Y/N. And don't let any more ghosts and burglars get to you."
"I'll try my best," I said, laughing. "See you guys soon."
They waved as they got back into the car and drove off. I watched them disappear down the long driveway, a warm feeling settling in my chest.
I approached the main gate and pressed the intercom button, leaning in close to the speaker. "Hi, It's Y/N. Just came back from the hospital, Can you let me in?"
A crackling sound followed before Kafka responded. "Welcome back, Y/N. Opening the gate now."
The gate slowly creaked open, and I walked through, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. I glanced up at the solitary camera by the gate, the only one in the entire mansion.
"Great security system we have here," I mused sarcastically. "One camera to watch over a mansion. What could possibly go wrong?"
I pushed the gate open and started up the path to the front door. The mansion loomed ahead, its grandeur evident in the intricate architecture and manicured gardens. The stone facade was covered in ivy, giving it a timeless, almost mystical appearance. The tall windows were adorned with heavy curtains, which I knew from experience were rarely opened.
Oooh, neat. I'm getting better at this describing thing. The whole place had a sort of haunted house vibe, minus the actual ghosts... I hope I didn't jinx it.
As I walked, I began to mentally catalog good spots for the cameras. "Let's see... One at the front gate is a given. Maybe one near the garage, too. Can't have anyone sneaking in to steal the gardener's tools. And definitely one by the rose garden. If anything happens to those roses, I'll never hear the end of it."
Reaching the front door, I knocked and then turned around, scanning the surroundings for more potential camera spots. "One by the fountain. Maybe a couple along the walkway. And definitely one inside the main hall. Who knows what kind of shenanigans happen there when I'm not looking?"
The door creaked open behind me, and I turned to find Kafka standing there, a warm smile on her face. "Welcome back, Y/N."
Before I could respond, she pulled me into a hug, and my thoughts scattered—
Kafka's scent wrapped around me, an intoxicating blend of lavender and something intriguingly indefinable, like she had distilled a secret potion of allure and whimsy.
It was like stepping into a field of wildflowers on a breezy summer day, only to discover that the flowers were singing sonnets in your honor. Her embrace was a cozy cocoon of warmth, her cashmere sweater so soft it felt like it was woven from the fur of cherubs hand-fed on ambrosia.
As it brushed against my skin, her warmth seeped into me, making me feel like I was being enveloped by a cloud crafted by the gods on their finest duvet day.
And then, there they were—her breasts, making their presence known like two friendly marshmallows with impeccable manners.
They pressed against me with a reassuring firmness, just enough to say, "We're here for you," without crossing into the territory of awkwardness.
Each heartbeat I felt through them was like a gentle drumbeat, a lullaby from the universe syncing perfectly with my own racing pulse, as if they were plotting to put me into a serene trance.
Her hair, a shimmering cascade of silk, brushed against my cheek, each strand like a delicate brushstroke from an ethereal artist. It left a trail of delightful tingles, as if a procession of tiny, mischievous fairies were moonwalking across my skin.
The subtle perfume she wore mingled seamlessly with her natural scent, creating an olfactory masterpiece that was simultaneously grounding and otherworldly. Breathing her in felt like inhaling pure enchantment, with each breath pulling me further into a lavender-laden daydream.
Her touch was a study in the art of hugging—both tender and assertive. Her hands rested lightly on my back, fingers splayed as if she were trying to cover as much surface area as possible, like a gecko hugging a sun-warmed rock.
It wasn't just a hug; it was an embrace from the cosmos, a full-on celestial cuddle, as if the universe itself had decided to give me a squeeze and whisper, "You're doing great, kid."
The rest of the world—the sprawling mansion, the meticulously pruned garden, the nagging paranoia about hidden cameras—vanished into a hazy fog of irrelevance. It was just us, standing there in a moment so pure it might have been crafted by sentimental elves on a sugar high.
Time stretched out, each second becoming an endless ribbon of bliss, woven together by the warmth and presence of Kafka. Her breasts included, they made the whole experience feel like being cradled by the cosmos, with a side of delightful absurdity that only a truly magical moment could provide.
Finally, she pulled back slightly, her smile still warm and inviting. "We've missed you around here."
I blinked, coming back to reality. "Yeah, I missed you all too, jeez."
Kafka laughed softly. "Come on in. Let's get you settled."
I stepped inside, mentally noting the perfect spots for more cameras. "One in the hallway, maybe one in the sitting room. And definitely one in the kitchen. Gotta keep an eye on those midnight snackers."
Kafka glanced at me curiously. "What are you muttering about?"
"Oh, nothing," I said, grinning. "Just planning some upgrades to our state-of-the-art security system."
She raised an eyebrow. "State-of-the-art, huh? With one camera?"
"Hey, every masterpiece starts with a single brushstroke," I retorted, following Kafka into the mansion.
Once inside, I looked around at the familiar yet imposing interior. "So, Kafka, do you think it'd be alright if I added some better security measures? Maybe even some alarms... and a dog?"
Kafka glanced at me thoughtfully. "Funny you mention that. I've already talked with Signora and Arlecchino about upgrading our security after what happened to you last week. It's not just for your safety, but maybe even ours too."
I raised an eyebrow. Maybe? Are they that confident in protecting themselves? I mean, it kinda makes sense, considering the person I'm talking to has an entire armory in her room.
Kafka continued, "As for a dog, I'm not too sure. I'll have to discuss it with the others first." She paused, her eyes suddenly lighting up with amusement. "But that collar you're wearing is quite cute. Why do we need a dog if we have you? I guess we're adding 'guard dog' to the list of things you do around the mansion."
My hand shot up to my neck, and I felt the collar still snugly in place. Damn it, Miko and Lisa! Trying to maintain my composure, I forced a laugh. "Yeah, well, they thought it would be funny."
Kafka chuckled. "It suits you."
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help smiling back. "Thanks, Kafka."
And just like that, my life as the head maid-slash-jack-of-all-trades-slash-unwitting-guard-dog continues. I couldn't help but think about the security upgrades. This place needed a serious overhaul, and if I was going to stay here, I wanted to feel safe.
Great security system we have here. One camera to watch over a mansion. What could possibly go wrong? It already happened once... I hope I didn't jinxed it.
