Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: He Was Tricked

Leeward walked down a long corridor, no more than two meters wide, lit by windows with narrow slits in the roof. The sunlight fell as pale, scattered lines, creating broken shadows within the narrow passage of the Danic Arena.

He carried the tongue of Calvin's beast in one hand and the silver pouches he had taken with him in the other. He stopped walking and stood in the middle of the corridor, his expression one of utter misery.

He set the silver pouches aside.

I really need this poison for any emergency. The next few days I won't be entirely unharmed.

He placed the tongue beside them, coated in Level 5 Calvin's poison, taking great care not to accidentally get the poison on his skin.

The silver pouches were burlap sacks made of thick, tangled threads. Focusing intently, Leeward grasped one of the sacks by its edge, then picked up a thread that was slightly detached from the rest and pulled it out completely.

Then he took hold of the tongue and tied it at the point of the cut, for it was severed... This was a calculated move to prevent the poison from escaping.

He tightened the binding so that all the blood vessels were sealed, then placed it inside the burlap sack with the silver. Next, he took the second bag of silver and emptied its contents into the first.

He folded the empty sack and tucked it under his trousers, then carried the bag of silver, which weighed about ten kilograms, and threw it over his shoulder before continuing on his way.

After a few steps, the sound of his footsteps echoing hollowly in the corridor, he saw the exit door in the distance... a narrow iron door.

He heard shouting and commotion outside the door.

He reached into his pocket, took out a piece of amplifying ether, and placed it in his palm.

His plan was clear... to create deeper chaos with the ether, so that he would avoid Canti's pursuit and have a chance to disappear into the crowd

The density of my spiritual field is almost depleted. I will inject what remains of it into this piece and hope that my plan will succeed.

The battle against Calvin's monster had been hard and long, and had sapped his strength badly... but his gains were far greater. He had lost nothing in this fight.

He went in as he was... and came out more cautiously, with enough wealth to get him around the village for several days.

He reached the door and tried to open it slowly so as not to make a sound, but its hinges gave off a sharp squeak that bounced off the hallway. It was a rusty, corroded door... a door that refused to open.

He didn't have the key... so Leeward had to kick it hard.

The door broke in two instantly because of its brittleness.

What a cheap construction... the world has lost the quality it once had.

He whispered mockingly.

He could see that the quality of things was no longer what it used to be... this door was clearly no more than three years old and yet it was completely eaten away by rust.

Leeward went out and saw utter chaos... people running in every direction, jostling cruelly and savagely, and screams of fear filled the air

He stopped at the edge, then looked right and left, scrutinizing every direction... He saw no one with red hair

Among the crowd, but he wasn't sure.

Perhaps Kante possessed a piece of ether that concealed his presence... or a spiritual device that tracked him only through consciousness.

So he released what remained of his spiritual field and injected it into the amplifying piece of ether, then stepped lightly and slipped into the crowd... and that's when the piece began to work.

The noise suddenly rose to a terrifying level, like an endless echo reverberating through the whole atmosphere... which made many people even more frightened by the sharp sound emitted by the piece of ether.

Kante was standing very far from Leeward, and it was extremely difficult for him to see him from his position... but he noticed that the screaming was getting much louder.

And the first thing that came to his mind...

One person I saw who got an amplifying piece of ether, that ascendant who died by thorns. That Tok Name must have taken the piece of ether from him and is using it now.

He deduced this quickly in his mind.

Then he set off running, and jumped right onto the roof of one of the nearby buildings, to get a view from above. It was

The streets around him were a chaotic mess... people rushing aimlessly, shouts echoing from every corner.

It was very difficult to notice Leward amidst this overwhelming crowd....

So the only way that came to his mind was

to use the Earth and Air Echo Spirit Instrument... it still held his Spirit Code.

He held the Spirit Instrument in his hands, then released his Spirit Field.... to make it clear that he was at the second rank of Solid Warrior - the pinnacle rank.

Canty was still young... only 25 years old, even younger than Leward.

And yet he had reached such a rank....

This could only be described as extraordinary talent.

He took the Spirit Instrument out of his pocket. It was shaped like a silver horn, with tiny air sensors at its ends that resembled thin metal wires. He reinforced it directly with his Spirit Field.....

The wire sensors began to vibrate, as if picking up distant spiritual traces through the Air Echo

Then the trumpet gave a low screech... an invisible earth echo

With this technique, Kante was able to pinpoint Leeward's location with precision.

The direction of the earth echo led him toward the middle of a street.

Kante immediately leaped up and headed toward the spot, but because of the crowd, progress was extremely difficult... the jostling bodies blocked his movement, preventing him from reaching the point indicated by the echo.

So he used his power.

Damn it, get out of the way!

His spiritual field surged out of his body with force, violently pushing everyone around him... like insects in the wind.

The people flew and fell to the edges of the street, while Kante stood in the middle.

There was a brief moment of silence.

He advanced with steady steps until he reached the location of the earth echo...

to find a piece of amplified ether placed on.

The earth, and it still works.

That damned thing.

Leeward had amplified all that remained of his spirit field density within the shard, making it continue to function longer... while he himself was completely depleted.

Don't worry, you won't survive. I'll inevitably find a clue.

Anger flared within Canty.

He'd been tricked...

He'd thought Leeward was stuck among the commoners, but the latter had already escaped, leaving only the imprint of his spirit field within the shard to distract him.

Only five sentries remained to face Calvin's wounded beast...

Four sentries had died from the poison, their bodies reduced to something resembling rot spreading across the ground.

The sentries took turns attacking, as the beast grew too weak.

One of them seized the opportunity

One of them seized the opportunity

He reinforced his spiritual field in his arm, then launched the spear in his hand with crushing force directly into the beast's belly....

The spear pierced the belly of Calvin's Beast.

The beast was almost dead.

It staggered for a moment on its feet... then fell face down to the ground.

"And at last it's dead."

"Stay careful, we don't know if it's really dead, or just playing games."

Although Calvin's Beast had died from that blow that shattered its guts, the guards remained extremely cautious in their dealings.... even after that.

The armies of Cantem Monoth and Rod, son of Furz, had arrived at the Cantem Monoth family home.

The house was built of pure white concrete.

Beautifully shaped, and very large, it stood alone in the middle of a classy street in the north of the village of Morge

"Rod, you go and get the burial permit from the village headquarters. I'll tell the others about my brother's death."

Jishi whispered hoarsely, his voice betraying his pain.

"All right, Uncle, I'll go now."

Rod immediately set off running.

He was sad about his uncle's death... but he carried a kind of inner happiness.

His uncle, O-Vird, had no sons. He believed that marriage took away his personal freedom, and so even his marriage to Rishi wasn't a traditional one, seeking an heir.

That's why Rod was happy...

O-Vird's fortune was enormous, and he coveted his inheritance.

"I'm truly saddened by my uncle's death, but he's already gone, and this will be a major turning point in the lives of all the family members. I'm sure there will be great conflicts over the inheritance he left behind, and I must also be firm in dealing with them to secure my share."

He was well aware that if he continued to be the nice young man he was, he might be deprived of his inheritance...

Whether from his paternal cousins or even his paternal aunts

The Cantem Monoth family currently consists of:

Three uncles - Overd, Geshi, and Furz.

And two aunts - Donny and Meldy.

Both are quite old, but they have several children.... This will make it even more difficult for him to get his share of the inheritance.

And the biggest problem was Overd's wife.... Rishi.

That damned woman didn't love Overd, and he didn't love her either.

She only married him for his inheritance. She's another obstacle; she's not even from our family, as her mother is a second cousin.

Everyone knew that the reason she married Overd was for his wealth, not love.

And she's not even fully Cantem Monoth.....

Her father is Donny's son, the eldest Diov of Cantem Monoth, and her mother is a second cousin of the Ravel Cantem Monoth family.

The reason Overd married her was his desire to unite the two families and end the conflict between them... After all, they are of the same blood.

But that never happened

I'll just kill her if she takes too much of the inheritance; she doesn't deserve it.
