Chapter 116 - Chapter 116: The Dragon Valley [Part-3]

The violet vortex swallowed them whole, ripping away the freezing, suffocating wasteland of the Dead Ridges.

When Alden stepped out on the other side, his boots didn't hit snow or jagged obsidian. They sank into soft, vibrant, impossibly green grass.

He staggered forward a single step, his breath catching in his throat.

The transition wasn't just visual; it was violently atmospheric. The air here didn't just smell fresh—it felt like inhaling pure, liquid vitality. The ambient mana density was absolutely staggering. It was easily three, maybe four times thicker than the most heavily saturated zones in either the Human or Dwarven continents.

Alden felt his dark-gold core immediately react, spinning lazily as it drank in the rich environment without him even needing to consciously cultivate.

He pulled the fur-lined collar of his cloak down, letting the crisp, sweet breeze hit his face.

He was standing in a sprawling, open expanse that looked like a primordial paradise. Towering, ancient trees with leaves of iridescent silver and gold stretched toward a sky that was painted in brilliant, unblemished azure.

But it was the structures dotting the open plains that truly stole his breath.

Scattered across the landscape were colossal, majestic sculptures carved from seamless white marble and jade. They were statues of dragons in their true forms, their wings spread wide, their maws open in silent roars. The sheer scale of the monuments was mind-bending. The smallest one was easily the size of the entire Blackwood mansion.

Alden stared up at the nearest statue, his single crimson eye tracking the massive claws and sweeping tail.

'If these sculptures are built to scale,' Alden thought, a sudden, healthy dose of perspective grounding him. He glanced sideways at Nova, who was brushing a stray leaf from her pristine black attire.

'Then she isn't just an arrogant girl. In her true form, she could probably accidentally crush a human city just by rolling over in her sleep.'

"Where is the Dragon Valley?" Alden asked, his voice steadying as he looked around.

"This just looks like the outer perimeter."

Nova didn't speak. She simply raised a pale, elegant hand and pointed toward the far horizon.

Alden squinted.

Barely visible through the atmospheric haze, piercing the sky like absolute needles of authority, were the faint outlines of towering, impossible spires and massive floating islands.

"That is the central sanctuary," Nova stated calmly.

"How far is that?" Alden asked, already dreading the answer.

"Approximately one thousand kilometers from this drop point," she replied, completely unbothered.

Alden let out a long, deeply aggrieved sigh. Even with his A-Rank physical stamina, running a thousand kilometers across unknown, highly saturated territory wasn't a day trip. It was a grueling marathon.

The sun above them was already beginning to dip, casting long, golden shadows across the pristine grass.

"The sun is setting," Nova observed, turning away from the horizon.

"We are not making that trek tonight. I know a place nearby. Follow me."

She floated forward, her boots hovering gracefully an inch above the grass. Alden trudged behind her, shaking his head at the sheer size of the continent.

They walked for about twenty minutes, weaving through the colossal dragon statues, until they reached a secluded grove hidden behind a massive waterfall. Tucked away in the foliage was a small, unassuming wooden hut. It looked incredibly modest—like a hunter's temporary blind.

Nova reached out and pushed the crude wooden door open.

Alden stepped inside.

He immediately stopped, his jaw physically dropping.

Calling it a 'hut' was an absolute, criminal insult to whatever spatial architect had designed it. The moment he crossed the threshold, the interior exponentially expanded. He wasn't standing in a wooden shack; he was standing in the grand foyer of a palatial estate.

Vaulted ceilings arched high above, adorned with glowing crystal chandeliers. The floors were lined with plush, deep-purple carpets, and sweeping staircases led to dozens of massive, open-concept rooms. The Blackwood mansion in Ironpeak was a masterpiece of luxury, but this? This made the dwarven estate look like a cheap inn.

"Spatial expansion magic," Alden muttered, running a hand along a polished jade banister. "Ridiculous."

"The guest quarters are on the second floor," Nova said, not even looking back as she ascended the grand staircase.

"Do not disturb me until morning. I require meditation to fully stabilize my unsealed core."

She disappeared down a long, opulent hallway.

Alden didn't complain. He was more than happy to have a few hours of absolute peace.

He found a sprawling guest room that was roughly the size of an entire training arena. It featured a massive, circular bed, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a localized, indoor garden, and a private washroom lined with pure gold fixtures.

He stripped off his heavy cloak and travel gear, took a long, intensely satisfying hot shower, and changed into a pair of loose, comfortable sleep trousers he pulled from his storage ring.

He walked over to the center of the massive bed and sat down in a cross-legged, lotus position.

He reached into his pocket, pulled out the crystal sphere, and placed it gently on the mattress beside him. The blue and gold wisps swirled lazily, casting a comforting, dual-toned glow across the dim room.

Alden closed his single crimson eye.

He was incredibly close to a breakthrough. He had felt the bottleneck straining against his core during the entire trek through the Dead Ridges. Now, surrounded by an environment where the ambient mana was so thick he could practically drink it, the conditions were flawless.

He engaged his rhythmic breathing, pulling the dense, pure energy of the Dragon Valley into his body.

It was staggeringly easy.

Before coming inside, he had noticed a flock of birds flying near the waterfall. A quick pulse of his perception had revealed that even the most basic wildlife here naturally radiated A-Rank auras. This environment forced evolution.

Alden filtered the pure ambient mana, converting it rapidly into his unique, Chaos element. The abyssal center near his dantian spun with a ferocious, hungry momentum.

CRACK!

The sound was internal, echoing purely within his spiritual pathways. The invisible barrier holding his capacity back violently shattered.

The Chaos energy instantly expanded, flooding his refined pathways, burning hotter, denser, and significantly more stable than before.

[DING!]

The golden-laced interface materialized behind his closed eyelids.

Alden opened his eye, a deep, satisfied breath escaping his lips.

He didn't just feel stronger; he felt cohesive. His body, previously struggling to contain the terrifying nature of his power, was finally adapting and scaling upward.

'It's time,' Alden thought.

He hadn't looked at his full status window in over a month. He had actively avoided it, not wanting to see the depressing, fractured remnants of his previous strength. But now, he had rebuilt the foundation.

"Status," Alden commanded mentally.

A large, pristine, abyssal-black screen with golden borders unfurled before him.

He wasn't a broken boy anymore. He was a fully loaded, rapidly evolving anomaly. And his SSS+ Luck was finally back online.

He swiped the window away and looked down at the crystal sphere resting on the bedsheets.

He picked it up, cradling the cool glass in his palms.

For the past few weeks, he hadn't dared to feed it his mana. Before the Weaver technique, his energy was too erratic. He had been terrified that pushing uncontrolled, destructive Chaos mana into the fragile artifact would cause it to violently explode.

But now, his control was surgical. His core was a stable C-Rank.

'Let's see what you do with a proper meal,' Alden thought.

He carefully gathered a highly concentrated, perfectly stable thread of his unique energy and pushed it against the glass.

The reaction was instantaneous and terrifying.

The crystal sphere didn't just accept the mana; it latched onto his pathways like a starving black hole.

FWOOSH!~

"Whoa!" Alden gasped, his crimson eye widening in shock.

The sphere greedily, aggressively sucked the energy straight out of his newly expanded core. It pulled so fast and so hard that Alden's vision actually blurred. In less than three seconds, the artifact nearly drained his entire C-Rank reservoir dry.

Alden violently ripped his spiritual connection away, severing the feed before his core completely collapsed.

He slumped forward, panting heavily, clutching the sphere.

"You greedy little..." Alden wheezed, staring at the glass.

Inside the sphere, the mana he had just injected flared with a blinding intensity. It swirled violently with the existing blue and gold wisps.

Then, suddenly, the erratic energy stabilized.

Poof~

A brand new, brilliantly glowing Green wisp sparked into existence.

It was incredibly vibrant, radiating an aura that felt entirely different from the cool blue or the majestic gold. The green wisp gracefully joined the orbit, revolving perfectly in sync with the other two lights.

As it spun, the crystal sphere pulsed.

A wave of soft, emerald-green light washed out of the glass, directly hitting Alden's chest.

It felt like diving into a cool, perfectly tranquil spring. The bone-deep exhaustion from climbing out of the subterranean ruin, the mental fatigue from fighting the Soul Sovereign's domain, and the lingering soreness in his muscles evaporated instantly.

He felt impossibly light. Completely, absolutely refreshed.

Alden stared at the sphere, his exhaustion replaced entirely by stunned, unadulterated awe. It wasn't just a passive healer anymore. The green light actively cleansed physical and mental fatigue in seconds.

'What are you?' Alden thought, a genuine, happy smile breaking across his face.

The sphere had saved his life, healed his scars, and now it was curing his exhaustion. It was the single most helpful thing he had encountered in this brutal world.

He gently set the glowing artifact on the pillow next to him.

Feeling completely relaxed for the first time in a month, Alden lay back against the plush mattress. He pulled the thick quilt over his chest, listening to the soft, rhythmic hum of the three wisps dancing inside the glass.

His single crimson eye slowly fluttered shut, pulling him down into a deep, peaceful sleep.

He didn't hear it.

He was already too far gone into unconsciousness to catch the incredibly faint, telepathic vibration that rippled outward from the crystal sphere, bypassing his ears and echoing softly against the edges of his mind.

A tiny, innocent, and completely unmistakable voice whispered in the dark room.

"Pa-pa…"
