[Chapter 109: She Wants Revenge, She Wants to Kill]
Normally, if no one sought out Daniel, he would avoid meddling in others' affairs. But now, on this plane, his own safety was at risk. He had no choice but to get involved.
Daniel's eyes shifted to a young man being restrained in his seat, a tall Air Marshal standing guard nearby. The man looked panicked, his face drained of color, as if he had seen something utterly terrifying.
Daniel guessed this was likely the man who had screamed in terror earlier. There was even a faint trace of Dark energy lingering around him.
Pondering for a moment, Daniel left economy class and returned to first class. Seeing Daniel come back with a solemn expression, Scarlett's heart sank. She quickly asked, "What happened?"
Daniel said gravely, "There's a ghost on this plane."
"Ah!" Scarlett gasped, her face paling instantly.
If anyone else had said it, she wouldn't have believed a word. But hearing it from Daniel -- especially after dealing with a ghost just two days ago -- made her uneasy.
"So what do we do now?" she asked nervously.
Daniel said, "I need to borrow your identity. I'm not sure if they recognize you."
Scarlett wasn't confident. "I'm not that famous at the moment."
"Let's try."
...
Daniel led Scarlett back down to economy class. The woman with the big breats had already been escorted back to her seat by the cabin crew, but her expression remained fearful. She clearly didn't buy the hallucination theory -- she believed her own eyes.
Daniel and Scarlett approached the Federal Air Marshal, who immediately grew alert. Just as he was about to speak, he saw Scarlett and paused.
"Ms. Johansson?" he asked.
Scarlett didn't expect him to recognize her. "You know me?"
The Air Marshal nodded. "I watched the Golden Globe Awards. You got two Best Actress nominations -- how could I not know you? I'm also a big fan of Lost in Translation."
Lost in Translation was about a middle-aged man and a young married woman. Considering the Air Marshal was a middle-aged man, it made sense he liked it.
"Thank you," Scarlett said politely.
Seeing it was Scarlett, the Air Marshal relaxed a little and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Scarlett introduced Daniel: "Mr. Air Marshal, this is Mr. Cross. He's a very powerful Exorcist and wants to speak with you."
"Exorcist?" The Air Marshal blinked in surprise.
Daniel said, "Mr. Air Marshal, may I have a moment of your time, alone?"
The Air Marshal glanced at Scarlett, then nodded.
The three walked aside. The Air Marshal asked, "What do you want to say?"
Daniel replied, "You might not believe me, but there really is a ghost on this plane. Those two passengers weren't lying -- they actually saw a ghost."
The Air Marshal's face darkened, but after looking at Scarlett, he held his temper.
Just then, a terrified scream sounded from behind.
They all turned to see a female passenger staring at the overhead luggage rack, her face full of terror and disbelief. Yet she was frozen in place, as if invisible chains held her there.
Daniel and the two immediately moved toward her.
Daniel and the Air Marshal looked up at the luggage compartment. Everything appeared normal -- just some small bags, nothing unusual.
Suddenly, the woman's body swayed and she collapsed to the floor.
"She wants revenge. She wants to kill," she whispered, trembling.
Now the Air Marshal knew something was seriously wrong.
One person could be hallucinating. Two maybe. But three? That was a whole different matter.
He glanced at Daniel. Could this Exorcist really be telling the truth -- there really was a ghost on the plane?
"She wants revenge. She wants to kill," the woman repeated, her eyes vacant, gripped by pure terror.
Her boyfriend tried to lift her but couldn't move her an inch.
Daniel raised his hand and pressed it gently against her forehead. Instantly, a prayer seal appeared.
With a smooth motion, Daniel formed a hand sign and said, "Suppress!"
The woman trembled violently, then her eyes cleared.
Daniel peeled off the seal, flicking it away with the back of his hand.
The woman looked around, stood up, and walked back to her seat.
Everyone nearby watched in stunned amazement.
The cabin crew had been struggling with the previous two passengers, barely keeping them semi-conscious -- especially the male, who the Air Marshal had to forcibly hold down.
But now, a simple piece of paper had calmed things dramatically. And their condition was immeasurably better.
The passengers looked at Daniel with a mix of awe and scrutiny.
Feeling their eyes, Scarlett couldn't help but puff up slightly, a rush of pride swelling inside her.
The Air Marshal's gaze shifted as well. He leaned in and whispered, "Mister... Mr. Cross, right? What you said just now..."
Daniel interrupted, "Let's talk somewhere more private. We don't want to cause a panic."
"Of course," the Air Marshal said, suddenly realizing he'd been a bit unprofessional.
...
They returned to their previous spot -- before they could speak, two flight attendants approached, worry etched on their faces.
They had seen Daniel's ability and come over with concern.
The Air Marshal looked at the two attendants, stayed silent for a moment, then asked Daniel again, "Mr. Cross, is it really true that there's a ghost on the plane?"
At the question, the flight attendants' faces turned pale, and they stared at Daniel expectantly.
Daniel explained, "Anyone who's come into contact with a ghost carries a trace of Dark energy -- sort of like how some animals have a distinctive odor that lingers when you touch them. This Dark energy is a unique aura ghosts emanate. I detected it on those three passengers. They did see ghosts, had brief contact, and that's why the energy clings to them."
The Air Marshal and flight attendants exchanged uneasy looks.
"Mr. Cross," the Air Marshal asked, "can you fix this?"
Daniel replied, "I can't promise a definite solution, but since I'm here, I'm willing to try. After all, my safety's on the line, too."
The Air Marshal nodded decisively. "Alright. Whatever you need, we'll cooperate fully."
The flight attendants quickly agreed, "We'll do whatever is needed as well."
Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. With the Air Marshal and cabin crew on his side, handling the situation would be much easier.
