When I walked back to my room that night, I was chilled to the bones. Sleep didn't come easily that night. Even when it finally did, it was restless. It was filled with strange dreams I couldn't remember the moment I woke.
By morning, I felt exhausted. It was like I had run a marathon through the night. I sighed. I couldn't stop thinking about what I had found.
The torn page remained hidden beneath my mattress. Exactly where I had placed it before dawn.
I had read the sentence so many times I no longer needed the paper.The words were engraved inside my mind.

A knock sounded at my door. I jolted in fear at the sound.
