I had learned that hope was dangerous a long time ago. The problem was that lately, I kept forgetting it.
I sat behind my office desk staring at the same report for nearly ten minutes and not being able to read it.
I just stared at the words as they jumbled in my head. My mind wasn't in the office or pack matters or what was written on that paper. It was on a stubborn human girl with beautiful eyes.
A stubborn human girl who had looked me directly in the eye and told me I didn't get to decide her life. The memory made my jaw tighten because she had been right.
I hated when people were right especially when that person was Iris. A knock sounded at the door which made me groan.
"Come in."
Cassian entered carrying several paper. One look at his face and a grin immediately spread across Cassian's face. I instantly disliked that grin.
"What's wrong with you?" Cassian dropped the reports onto the desk.
