Chapter 153 - Chapter 153: The Strongest Duo? Move Aside!

"Coming onto the pitch now is the Premier League's strongest duo—the Son–Kane partnership. Son Heung-min, one of Asia's top stars, has long been regarded as one of the finest Asian players in Europe."

"But tonight, he's up against Leo Lin, who is also an Asian player. And right now, Leo Lin's market value is already on par with Son Heung-min's, despite Son's many years competing in Europe."

"It won't be long before Leo Lin surpasses him."

"That's why fans are calling this a head-to-head between two Asian protagonists. Both are key figures for their sides. Who will come out on top? Let's find out."

The tension between the two sets of supporters was palpable. In the players' tunnel, the two stars were chatting when Son Heung-min greeted Leo Lin right away.

"Leo Lin, can we swap jerseys after the match?"

Leo Lin paused. He wasn't particularly close with Son Heung-min and had no idea why he was reserving a shirt in advance. Just then, Kane, standing in front of Son, broke into a grin.

"No, no, no. I texted Leo Lin yesterday to book his shirt. You'll have to wait for the next game."

Leo Lin was even more confused.

When did he text me?

Since when did I even have Kane's number?

That crafty old Brit.

Referee Oliver, the famously "blind" Premier League official, led both starting lineups onto the pitch.

Tottenham quickly spread out, their shape clearly set up for a classic counterattack system.

"Tottenham are likely going with defensive counterattacks—that's what they do best."

"They'll stabilize at the back first, then work the ball forward, using Kane as the pivot to create space out wide."

The whistle blew, and the match was underway, with Liverpool kicking off.

As expected, Tottenham immediately dropped deep, focusing on control rather than rushing forward.

They practically handed possession to Liverpool—exactly the scenario they preferred.

"If you let Spurs dominate possession, they actually struggle to produce smooth counterattacks. That's Pochettino's tactical style."

"Since arriving at Spurs, Pochettino has built a distinct fast-countering system. Their shape shifts fluidly, and once they break, the efficiency is frightening."

Seventh minute!

"Liverpool still in control of the ball."

"They're pressing through the middle, pushing up."

"Dembélé steps up to defend Leo Lin, but he won't be enough alone—Alli is dropping back to help."

"There were rumors Alli was pursuing Pep Guardiola's daughter Maria, but now Maria seems much closer to Leo Lin."

"You can see the fire of a romantic rival in Alli's eyes—he's got an extra buff tonight!"

Jon Champion wasn't wrong. Dele Alli's eyes practically shot blue flames as he charged straight at Leo Lin.

In his mind, the script was simple: lean in from the side, bulldoze Leo Lin off the ball, win it cleanly, and send a clear message to Maria watching from the stands.

But the moment he braced himself and slammed into Leo Lin, Alli felt like he'd run into a wall—springy on the outside, solid steel within.

He was bounced off instantly, stumbling backward and nearly falling flat on his back.

The Liverpool supporters erupted in laughter, mercilessly jeering at Alli.

"Does Alli even watch matches? How dare he try to body Leo Lin like that?"

"I've only ever seen Leo Lin bulldoze others—first time I've seen someone volunteer for it!"

"With those skinny arms and legs? What was he thinking? In a cage fight, Leo Lin would knock him out with one punch!"

After shrugging Alli off, Leo Lin kept dribbling forward, holding off Dembélé with his body and shielding the ball calmly.

Step by step, he carried it into Tottenham's half before sliding it left.

Mané received and laid it across. Firmino met it with a half-turn and slipped it right. Salah arrived and unleashed a fierce shot from a tight angle!

"Lloris saves Salah's effort!"

"These four really are the heavyweights of modern football. The chemistry between them is superb—everything one touch."

Corner for Liverpool. Tottenham left only Son and Kane upfield, with everyone else packed into the box.

Mané swung the corner toward the far post.

Firmino rose for the header but couldn't get enough power under defensive pressure.

Lloris claimed it in the air and immediately launched a long overarm throw to spark a counterattack—straight toward Kane, just as expected.

Liverpool scrambled back. Kane held off Matip with his back to goal, cushioned the ball on his chest, forced a half-turn, and whipped a looping half-volleyed through pass forward. Son Heung-min exploded into space!

His blistering off-the-ball run shook off Robertson, and for a split second, he was clean through!

But Lovren recovered quickly, shepherding Son toward the flank and denying him a direct sight of goal.

With the angle tightening, Son lashed at it anyway. The shot was powerful, but too central—easily gathered by the keeper.

"That was close! From that transition alone, you can see Spurs absolutely have the ability to score on the counterattack."

"Three simple passes and they're through on goal. Liverpool need to stay sharp—the Son-Kane duo is the real deal."

The match settled into a rhythm of attack versus counterattack, yet Spurs kept finding ways to break.

The moment Liverpool's attack broke down, Spurs would be sprinting the other way in an instant.

The Son-Kane pairing was especially lively, keeping Matip and Lovren on edge, while Arnold and Robertson had to constantly watch for balls over the top.

30th minute!

"Based on the flow so far, Spurs haven't been pinned back completely."

"Their sharp counterattacks are threatening Liverpool's goal. The Son-Kane duo have been outstanding tonight."

As the commentary continued, Leo Lin, who had been operating in the advanced midfield areas, began dropping deeper, increasing his movement.

He had finished observing.

He'd found his route.

37th minute!

"Tottenham sitting in a low block, no high press."

"Mignolet clips a half-height ball toward the Defensive Midfielder. Leo Lin drops back, cushions it on his chest, shrugs off Kane, turns, and drives forward!"

As he advanced, he lifted his head. Only Dembélé stood ahead.

With a subtle flick of his right hand, Salah immediately drifted into the Attacking midfielder position, ready to receive.

Leo Lin threads it through to Salah!

Salah takes it first time and squares it across.

"One-two! Beautiful!"

Salah returns it to Leo Lin, who keeps surging forward!

Leo Lin lifts his head again. Just as he predicted—only Dier left.

He whips a diagonal ball out to Mané!

"Bang!" Without taking a touch, near the left byline, Mané rolls a smooth cut-back—right back to Leo Lin!

Two consecutive one-twos, both orchestrated by Leo Lin!

Firmino presses forward at the same time, dragging defenders away and opening shooting space behind him!

Leo Lin bursts into the penalty area, meeting Mané's cut-back face-to-face with the goalkeeper.

Vertonghen is in front of him, but Leo Lin doesn't hesitate—he hits it first time!

A precise reverse push-shot, guided into the bottom-right corner!

Lloris dives low at full stretch, but from that distance, he has no chance!

"Swish!!!"

The net ripples.

The four men who combined so brilliantly sprint toward the sideline. Three gather behind Leo Lin, surrounding him.

Arms folded across his chest, Leo Lin stands tall at the center of his teammates, chin raised, striking a supremely defiant pose.

You may be strong—but I'm stronger.

The strongest duo?

Move aside.
