When Hermi heard the three knocks coming at the King's Chamber doors, followed by Enzo's voice, she could not tell whether it was day or night.
"Your Majesty," Enzo said, hesitation clear in his voice. "Commander Marco wishes to see you."
The room, draped in heavy dark curtains and illuminated only by the dying embers of a hearth, had become a timeless void. The only thing Hermi knew was that Enzo's kind interruption was one of her rare chances to get herself out of the King's Chamber, after having been kept there for three weeks straight.
"C-ca... Cassian," Hermi called out weakly. "T-the door. It must be... urgent."
If it was Commander Marco who sought to see him, then Marco must have come to inquire why the King had abandoned going on raids for those three full weeks.
