As Headmaster Musphlim lowered her spear, she looked at us with this fire in her eyes, almost burning through me.
"As... some of you may know, the Selvasta academy entrance exam consists of 3 things," she said, raising 3 fingers. 3 banners fell behind us, seemingly from nowhere. "The Battle Royale, Combat Trials, And Combat Exams."
While the headmaster is explaining the 3 trials, someone taps me on the shoulder. It startles him slightly, but as I turn around, I notice a familiar face!
"Hello... Dalaxy" Sinen, who seems to be better after the events a few days prior, greeted me with a slight smile on her face.
"Ah, Sinen, nice seeing you here!" I hug her before stepping back some, as the headmaster finishes up some of the more boring stuff.
The headmaster's voice booms over the other people speaking, then goes silent. "On other notes, the battle royale portion will start shortly, and with that, there are a few rules to go over."
"Firstly, you fail only if you are unable to fight, or are too injured to go on, causing you to be transported back here and then go home."
"Secondly, only half of you, so about 500 or so, will be allowed to pass this portion. Once there are 500 remaining, the people who remain will be teleported back into the arena."
"Third, there will also be class V and W Kyveasts along the map. The map itself consists of a forest, plains, and a mountain area."
"Lastly, teams are allowed. We will give you the next 3 hours to assemble teams, and once that ends, everyone will be transported to the plains. Also, during those 3 hours, you are allowed to grab armor and weapons."
The headmaster turns around, as he walks back into the building, she left us with one last thing: "I wish most of you the best of luck."
As the headmaster goes away, students start running around in this large crowd, some falling and getting trampled, as students all around the place start forming teams, some large, others smaller.
Around 1 Hour Later
As I'm walking around, I finally run into Sinen leaning against one of the pillars around the plaza, who surprisingly seems to haven't teamed up with anyone yet.
"Yo! Sinen, have you... found anyone worth teaming up with?"
Sinen comes off the pillar before looking me in dead in the eyes. "Actually, I think I did just find the one person who could team with me... properly, instead of just being a deadweight."
I look at her, slightly confused as to what she means by that. "So... who is that exactly?"
Sinen looks at me, almost annoyed. "Well, maybe if the person, who I just saw, and then said I did JUST find the one person, wasn't so... stupid, I could actually tell you that it's well, YOU." Her voice booms across the plaza, and as I look behind me, we get a few stares.
Scratching the side of my head, I finally realize, after she yells at me, that well, that person is ME.
"Oh."
Getting back to what I wanted to do, I extend my hand out to Sinen. "Well then, may I oh so ever ask you to be my teammate?"
Sinen looks back at me with a more... calmer expression before grinning slightly. "Well, considering how you saved my life a few days ago, I was already considering allowing you to be on my team, but I'll allow it." She shakes my hand as 2 wristbands, with a vine and ice pattern, show up on our wrists.
"All these indicate that we are on the same team—" Sinen paused for a second, "But I Do Think we Will Need Atleast one more teammate to make it into the final 500, especially with these double-digit teams around here."
Looking around me, I notice that a lot of weaker students, probably around the same level or lower than the Kyveasts that will be around the zone, mainly Unit Class V-W members, are being led by a High Class W or Low Class X, in groups of around 10 to 20, from the database, i know about 3/4 of the current students here are classes V-W, with that number getting lower and lower the higher up the classes go.
"Well, we are probably around mid Class X currently, so we should try to at least get one more person on or around our level to make it." Opening up the map, I look around for places where stronger people would be. "The best place to find people now is probably the training quarters around the hall." I show Sinen the map, pointing towards the training quarters.
"Yeah, you're probably right. Let's head over there and see who exactly we can find." Sinen starts sprinting over there. "We only have 1 Hour Left!"
Selvasta Academy - Training Quarters 1
The Training Quarter is full of people either dueling, training with dummies, doing simulations, or just having conversations about their abilities, or trying to form teams.
Looking down from the second floor, Sinen went off to find someone while I stayed back and looked at the battle for some people, as I'm watching the two people have a light spar—
Someone flew across the Quarters, a beastman, probably around my level, bruised and battered and slightly burned, looking from the direction they had just come from. I move closer to that side to get a better view, seeing this girl, embers, and smoke coming from her hands. She has red skin with horns, although her horns are white... so I assume she's a different type of demon, as she shakes the remaining flames off her hands.
One of the announcers, who sounds to be just as shocked as I am, announced the results of the fight.
"D-Desaitina Asanuma Wins the Duel In One Blow!"
A lot of the students around are either cheering for her or talking quietly about how the fight went. Although Asanuma herself doesn't seem to be too fazed like this, she actually has one of the biggest smiles I've seen someone have after fighting; it's like she's not even tired after that.
She glares at me for a second before saying something...
"╎リ⎓ᒷ∷n⚍ᒲ i⊣niᓭ, rise ᔑn↸ sear" ("Infernum ignis, rise and sear"). Fire appeared around her before she suddenly disappeared, then—
"Wait—" Something grabbed me by the back of my collar before I could react, pulling me into a room behind me.
Once I regained posture, I stood up to see Asanuma standing above me, looking at me curiously. "You're that Kid From before, aren't you? Aren't you!"
Confused about what she means by that, "What do you mean? I don't remember seeing you anywhere?"
She laughs slightly, embers coming off of her. "Remember when you were heading to register for today? There was that crowd surrounding me!"
Looking back, I remember seeing a crowd surrounding a demon, but I was never able to get close enough to see it clearly. "Ah, you were the demon they were harassing, you good after that?"
Her expression falters slightly, "It's not the worst thing in the world, people still hate demons for some reasons, so you get it a lot, leading to you getting used to it over the years..."
After that, she grabs me by the wrist and starts jumping up and down, "Anyways, pleasepleasepleaseplease! Let me down your team! Nobody else wants to team with me, so I was hoping you would let me team with you~! I might be a battle junkie or whatever humans call it, but that'll be a good thing, I swear!"
Getting a little dizzy from her jumping, I stop her for a second. "Honestly, I planned on asking you the same thing once you demolished that dude, but I guess you got to it first!" I chuckle a bit before extending my hand out, "So, Team?"
Asanuma grabs my hand, shaking it wildly as my wristband turns and gains a red fire pattern, alongside the vines and ice
Sinen, who probably found us from the Kyvina, was released from the team contract and walked into the room. "I see you found us a teammate, Desaitina Asanuma... huh, fair choice, we only have... actually, I don't know how much time we have until then, but before that starts, quick introduction to get to know each other, I'll start."
"Sinen Nihil, Frost Magic."
"Desaitina Asanuma, Demonic magic, along with Healing and Hellfire."
"Leon Knidhear, Nature Magic, Blood Magic, Enhancement, and M—"
The ground below us starts to crack as rifts drop us into the sky as we enter a freefall, looking around, there's nothing but clouds, but as we drop down farther. a long expanse of trees, along with many other biomes, as well as other students, maybe miles away.
