Chapter 57 - Chapter 57 – Witness the Moment of Miracle

"I came. I saw. I conquered."

At the exact instant midnight arrived, a deep, clear broadcast echoed across the entire Gotham Natural History Museum plaza.

The moment those words rang out, everyone who had not slept through high-school history class—Dick, Barbara, Commissioner Gordon, and Harvey Bullock included—felt their expressions change instantly.

This was not an ordinary sentence.

It was Julius Caesar's most famous declaration of victory.

On its own, the quote might have seemed harmless. But to anyone who had read Kaito Kid's Preview Letter, the implication was unmistakable.

> "Following Caesar the Great's guidance."

At that moment, everyone finally understood.

The "guidance" was not a statue.

It was Caesar's words.

It was victory itself.

Which meant only one thing—

👉 Kaito Kid had never planned to appear in the Jungle Pavilion.

---

Barbara's Realization

Inside the Jungle Pavilion, Barbara's teeth clenched.

> "This is basically cheating…"

She and Dick had searched the entire museum.

They had checked the Roman exhibition hall.

They had inspected Caesar's statue from every possible angle.

Nothing.

And now she was being told that the answer had been hidden in a broadcast request?

> "Who would think of something like this?"

Her frustration flared.

At that moment, a sharp slap echoed nearby.

"Damn it!" the Deputy Director exclaimed, striking his own forehead.

Everyone turned toward him.

"Yesterday, at exactly this time," he said nervously, "someone in the museum's broadcast room found a note in their pocket."

The color drained from Gordon's face.

"What did the note say?"

The Deputy Director swallowed.

> "It said: 'I came, I saw, I conquered.'

And it requested that this phrase be played over the broadcast tonight."

Gordon's anger exploded.

"WHY WAS THIS NOT REPORTED TO THE GCPD?"

"I—I meant to," the Deputy Director stammered. "But the note didn't have Kaito Kid's signature. I thought it was just a prank, so I—"

Before he could finish—

"Commissioner!" a police officer shouted while sprinting over.

"Look at the plaza—Kaito Kid has appeared!"

---

The Phantom Thief Appears

Gordon didn't waste another second.

He rushed to the window.

And froze.

On a tall utility pole beside the plaza's broadcast speakers, a pure white figure stood proudly against the storm.

Kaito Kid.

His cape snapped violently in the wind, rain cascading off its edges like silver threads.

The sight alone was overwhelming.

Below him, the Kaito Kid fan club had already gathered, umbrellas forgotten.

"I—I actually saw him!"

"This is insane, he's even more handsome in person!"

"No way, this is really him!"

More and more people rushed toward the center of the plaza.

Some were fans.

Some were skeptics.

Some came simply to watch him fail.

"He's just a thief, right?"

"With this many people watching, there's no way he steals anything."

"I want to see how he embarrasses himself."

Voices overlapped endlessly.

Yet something strange was happening.

Despite the rain.

Despite the chaos.

Despite the fact that this was Gotham—

No one was afraid.

No one ran.

No one screamed in panic.

Deep down, everyone believed the same thing:

Kaito Kid would not hurt them.

This alone was something Gotham had never seen before.

---

Silence Before the Show

Kaito Kid slowly raised his right hand.

"Shh."

Just a single gesture.

And somehow—

The noise faded.

Conversations stopped.

Arguments died down.

Thousands of eyes fixed on him at once.

Only the rain remained.

Then his voice, calm and confident, echoed through the broadcast system.

> "Ladies and gentlemen."

> "Thank you for waiting in the wind and rain."

> "To repay your patience—allow me to present tonight's performance."

He bowed slightly.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Suddenly, mechanical sounds thundered across the rooftops.

Beams of light erupted from the thirteen surrounding pavilions, converging on Kaito Kid from every direction.

The plaza lit up like a stage.

> "This show," Kaito Kid said smoothly,

"is best enjoyed up close."

He grasped his cape—

And threw it outward.

Smoke burst forth.

The rain washed it away instantly.

And when the smoke vanished—

Kaito Kid was gone.

---

Impossible Movement

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

Then—

> "Ladies~ and~ gentlemen!"

Kaito Kid's voice sounded again.

The lights shifted.

Everyone turned.

And there he was—

Standing in the very center of the crowd.

No one had seen him move.

No one had felt him pass by.

Shock exploded.

"What—how did he get there?!"

"Teleportation? Is that a superpower?!"

"This has to be fake—there's no way!"

Kaito Kid smiled beneath his monocle.

> "Are you ready?"

> "Please watch carefully."

> "And whatever you do—don't blink."

He raised his right hand.

And snapped his fingers.

Snap.

---

The First Miracle

The sound echoed across the plaza.

And then—

The rain stopped.

Not gradually.

Not slowly.

Instantly.

Thousands of raindrops froze in mid-air.

Suspended.

Floating.

Shimmering under the lights.

It was as if time itself had been seized.

A stunned silence followed.

"Oh my god…"

"Is this real?"

"Am I dreaming?"

Faces reflected awe, fear, and disbelief.

Kaito Kid's voice cut through the shock.

> "Don't be too surprised."

> "Stopping rain is difficult—"

> "But this alone is not what I call a miracle."

His smile deepened.

> "Now—"

> "Please witness the moment of miracle."

---

The Second Miracle

Kaito Kid spread his arms wide.

Palms facing the sky.

His eyes closed.

For a heartbeat—

Nothing happened.

Then—

He opened his eyes.

And raised his hands upward.

Screams erupted.

"LOOK!"

"THE RAINDROPS—!"

"THEY'RE MOVING UP!"

Thousands of suspended droplets began to flow against gravity.

Rising.

Spiraling.

Reversing the natural order of the world.

The plaza erupted into pure chaos.

People pointed upward.

Some fell to their knees.

Some laughed hysterically.

For one impossible moment—

Reality itself seemed to bend.

And under the storm-lit sky of Gotham—

Kaito Kid stood at the center of it all, smiling.
