The girl didn't take the mockery lying down. Even though her shots had missed every single target, she proceeded to beat the robbers to a pulp with her bare hands. One by one, she subdued them before calling her colleagues to haul them away.
A group of girls in red school uniforms soon arrived at the scene to secure the perpetrators. They appeared to belong to a specialized organization that operated much like a secret intelligence agency.
The girl with the infamously poor aim was named Nishikigi Chisato. Her operating code was LC2808, a member of the secret agency known as Direct Attack (DA). She was also hailed as the "Strongest Lycoris in History."
DA was an organization not unlike the White Room—secretly established by the government to cultivate extraordinary talents. And Nishikigi Chisato, much like Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, was considered the "Masterpiece" of the organization.
Chisato knelt down, stroking Shino's hair, and said with a bright face, "You're safe now~"
Asada replied shyly, "You were amazing, Big Sister."
[Note: Yuuki Asuna is currently 2 years older than Asada Shino, and the plot of Sword Art Online has not yet begun].
Chisato proudly brandished a small fist and put her hands on her hips. "Of course! Big Sister is invincible!"
Ryunosuke, standing beside them, interjected without mercy.
"Didn't every single one of those bullets miss the robbers? Your shooting is actually pathetic..." He smirked.
Chisato glared at him, annoyed. She pointed her empty pistol at Ryunosuke's forehead, swearing she would prove she was a sharpshooter who never missed. Of course, it was just a joke; she wouldn't actually shoot—she just wanted to tease him.
But Ryunosuke didn't know that! He panicked, shouting for her to stop, terrified that the gun might go off on its own.
Chisato kept the muzzle—still warm from the previous fire—pressed against his head. This time, it was Ryunosuke's turn to feel like his life was hanging by a thread; he felt as if his soul was about to leave his body from sheer terror!
Seeing his reaction, Chisato let out a wide grin and a "hi-hi" laugh before finally letting him go.
Ryunosuke exhaled in relief, asking, "What exactly are you people? You look like schoolgirls, but you're carrying firearms."
In truth, he knew exactly who they were, but he felt it was necessary to ask.
Without a shred of suspicion, Chisato immediately leaked classified information.
"Hehe, we are the agent organization Direct Attack (DA)! We maintain world peace and eradicate evil forces~"
Chisato struck a cool pose with her pistol—clearly showing off—until her collar was suddenly yanked from behind by her partner.
"Ow, ow! Wait! Don't pull, hey! This is embarrassing, you know!"
Another short-haired girl in the same agent uniform stared at her with weary eyes.
"Do you have any idea that our information is a state secret? How dare you just tell a civilian?!"
Chisato poked her index fingers together. "What's the big deal? Normal people can't reach our level anyway, right?"
Her partner fell silent. Though she hated to admit it, Chisato was right. Ordinary people would never cross paths with their world, let alone understand what they did. Telling them wasn't technically a catastrophe, but she just hated being led around by Chisato's whims!
This girl, just because she was the best Lycoris, acted completely as she pleased every single day! Just yesterday, she had intentionally delayed a hostage rescue just because she wanted to help an old lady cross the street.
Actually, Chisato had done that on purpose because the hostage was a young master of a financial group with a terrible reputation. She simply couldn't be bothered to save someone like that.
As they prepared to leave, Ryunosuke and Shino called out at the same time.
"Please wait a moment!" ×2.
They both looked at each other, surprised. Chisato laughed and waved, saying there was no need for thanks as it was just part of the job.
Shino hesitated before speaking up. "Can I join you?! I want to be strong like Big Sister! Then I can protect my mother!"
Chisato smiled proudly and patted Shino's head. "Children should grow up without burdens. Don't worry your head about things like this."
She knelt down and whispered softly, "Leave the heavy lifting to the adults. Let us carry the weight."
Shino muttered quietly, "You aren't that much older than me."
Chisato flicked Shino's forehead, feigning anger. "If you keep talking back, I won't take you as a student!"
Shino's eyes lit up instantly. "You agree to take me as a student?"
"Of course!" Chisato looked up proudly, but added, "But I only have free time on Saturdays and Sundays. If you want to learn to shoot, come to Cafe LycoReco to find me."
Shino replied with a slightly disgusted expression, "I don't want to learn your pathetic shooting technique. I want to learn how to dodge bullets! Ow! That hurts!"
Chisato couldn't resist giving Shino a "love tap" on the head.
"How dare you call your teacher's shooting pathetic! What's pathetic about it?! At least if the distance is 2 meters, I'm sure I can hit!"
"Doesn't that mean you practically have to be touching their face?" Ryunosuke and Shino thought in unison.
Chisato then looked at Ryunosuke, who had been silent. She rubbed her chin and waved him off with a dismissive expression. "You're too old, I don't want you. I only accept cute girls."
A vein popped on Ryunosuke's forehead. "Old, my foot! I'm only years old! We're the same age, you know!!!"
"Eh~" Chisato covered her mouth with mock surprise. "Actually, I think I'm a year older than you. Come on, call me 'Big Sister,' and maybe I'll consider taking you on as a student~"
Ryunosuke wanted to curse, but then he remembered that Chisato's heart was a mechanical one. Perhaps that technology could save Arisu. So, he bit his tongue and reluctantly uttered, "Big Sister."
Chisato was genuinely surprised. She expected him to give up, but he actually called her his sister. Did this man have some deep-seated reason?
Since she had already given her word, Chisato couldn't take it back. Well, whatever—two students weren't a problem. She figured she could just make them work at the cafe to cover the training costs. After finishing the paperwork, she led them both toward Cafe LycoReco.
