THIRD PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW
"Aello? What's going on-all that noise?" Nay Jackie's voice carried from down the hall, sharp with concern.
Aello stood frozen, her eyes fixed on the food now scattered across the trash can's bottom. Anger flared hot in her chest at the woman's carelessness, but shock rooted her to the spot-because the stranger had called herself Psikh's wife.
Questions crashed over her, tight as a fist around her heart. What if it's true? What happens to me then? To our deal? He'll throw me away, she thought, her throat closing up.
"What the hell do you think you're doing here?!"
Nay Jackie's voice boomed through the kitchen, raw with fury. The older woman strode past Aello without a glance, grabbing the stranger by the arm and yanking her back from the counter.
"Get out of my house! You have some nerve showing your face here, you hypocrite! I'd strangle you with my bare hands!" Nay Jackie snarled, her cheeks flushed red as she pulled the woman toward the door.
