Chapter 472 - Chapter 474 Smoker

Before dinner began, Missy returned to the living room, followed by a dejected Sheldon.

Evidently, in this 'battle,' Sheldon had once again been subdued by force.

And after the previous little interlude, Missy's nervous mood had calmed down; at least she could face Mike normally now.

Afterward, the harmonious atmosphere continued until dinner ended. During this time, Mike updated the Cooper family on Connie's recent situation.

He assured them that they didn't need to worry about the old woman's life.

"There are still many empty rooms in the house; you can certainly stay here for a night," George suggested, looking at Mike and Needy after the sumptuous dinner.

"Yes, if you don't like it here, I also have empty rooms for you to stay in," Georgie also chimed in, trying to persuade them to stay.

The reason was that Mike's schedule was too rushed; he had only just arrived less than half a day ago and was already about to leave.

"No need," Mike said, shaking his head slightly. "I'm here in California on official business, and I already have a place to stay tonight..."

"After I'm done with my work, I'll come visit you again."

Mike, having made up his mind to leave, quietly cast a protective buff on the Cooper family as he bid them farewell.

"Alright then, the Cooper family always welcomes you."

Seeing that the other party was determined to leave, George and the others no longer tried to persuade him, and then waved goodbye to Mike.

Not far from the Cooper family's new house, an employee of King Investment Group was waiting there to give Mike the car keys.

Because of Mike's previous plans for King Investment Company, Chris had developed some properties in California.

Therefore, King Investment Company had a subsidiary here in California.

"Take me to the Hollywood set to find Kate..." Mike took the car keys from the employee and handed them to Needy.

Mike's next itinerary was to find Kate before dark and also give her a protective buff.

Then, after a night's rest, he would contact Constantine.

"That car isn't cheap..."

After watching Mike leave, George looked at his eldest son and asked, "Do you know what Mike has been doing these past two years?"

As a father, how could George not see that his youngest daughter was interested in Mike.

However, after these two recent interactions, he found Mike a bit hard to understand.

When they were in New York, he knew Mike was very wealthy and had even found him a top medical team.

This time, he heard from Mike that he had completed all his university courses in the past six months.

How can a person be so outstanding!

George felt a weary sense that his youngest daughter seemed unworthy of Mike.

"I heard his company is currently investing in the real economy," George knew some of Mike's recent developments due to his business.

"Investment company? It seems Mike made a lot of money in stocks before," Mary interjected.

Mike had previously taken Connie and the Cooper family to dabble in stocks for a while, so Mary highly recognized Mike's ability to make money from stock trading.

"I don't know how much money Mike has, but I heard he's well known among Wall Street..." Georgie was not on the same page as his parents; he was purely marveling at Mike's success.

Only those who have truly experienced starting a business know how miraculous it is to go from scratch to being ranked on the Wall Street rich list in two years.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to describe it as a 'business miracle.'

"Sigh—"

George sighed, sharing a knowing glance with his wife.

Then his gaze shifted to his youngest daughter, who was reluctantly watching Mike leave.

'It seems the gap between them is getting wider and wider.'

Ultimately, George shook his head helplessly, no longer thinking about impractical matters.

One could only say, 'Children and grandchildren have their own fortunes,' and it was best to let nature take its course.

On the other side, Mike, who had arrived at the set hotel by car, did not disturb anyone else and went directly to Kate, who was playing Rose.

He spent the night applying a protective buff to the girl.

"Are you leaving again?" As the morning light streamed through the room's French windows, Kate lazily looked at the man who was preparing to leave.

In the morning light, the girl's fair skin seemed to glow, possessing a classic beauty.

Mike couldn't help but take another look, then said, "I still have work to do; I'll come see you in a couple of days."

This trip to California was primarily to support Constantine; visiting the Cooper family and Kate was actually just a side trip.

"Mmm-hmm, next time you come, you'll probably have to look for me abroad," Kate had a very clear understanding of her status as a 'canary.'

She, who neither contended nor vied, called out to Mike simply because she wanted to have a few more exchanges with him, to make him remember her more.

Overall, it was a very 'smart' display.

"Oh, has the outdoor filming location been set up?" Mike asked.

To ensure the realism of the new movie's filming, Director Cameron had planned a lot of real-scene shooting, investing a large amount of capital to build real sets in Canada and Mexico.

Although Mike, as an investor, didn't get much involved in the filming, because he invested enough, Director Cameron had discussed the real-scene shooting with him before.

"Yes, the outdoor sets have been completed. We'll be going abroad to film tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," Kate replied.

"That's good..." Mike felt much relieved knowing that the girl was about to leave California, a relatively dangerous place.

Then, seeing her confused expression, he explained, "I mean, I'll instruct the director later to give you more preferential treatment..."

"Also, if you have any problems after going abroad, you can contact me."

...

More than half an hour later, Mike left Kate's room, feeling satisfied.

Then, with Needy, who was waiting at the door, he found Mr. Lundy, who was studying directing techniques there, and then the three went together to meet Director Cameron.

After some pleasantries, Mike and Director Cameron finalized the theme song for the new movie.

At this point, Mike's 'miscellaneous tasks' in California were all completed.

"Hello, is this Agent Y? I'm Agent M from the MIB Special Department..." After bidding farewell to the crew, Mike finally contacted Constantine, who urgently needed help.

After confirming each other's identities, they agreed to meet at the West Coast Glass Restaurant. They could exchange information and have lunch at the same time.

The semi-transparent Glass Restaurant, built entirely of glass, was very famous locally and considered a well-known tourist spot.

Of course, as a sufficiently famous 'named' restaurant, the Glass Restaurant's name was not just because of its characteristics; it was originally named because there was an even more famous church nearby called the Glass Church.

The Glass Restaurant was essentially piggybacking on its popularity.

Facts proved that for such restaurants that piggyback on popularity, the food often doesn't live up to its reputation.

Mike, sitting in a luxurious booth at the Glass Restaurant, took two bites of the exquisite and beautiful food in front of him before putting down his knife and fork.

Now, he just had to wait for Constantine to arrive.

Soon after, a handsome man in his thirties was led by a waiter to Mike's booth.

"I'm John Constantine; you can call me John..." The man, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, sat down casually and then said, "If I'm not mistaken, you must be Agent M, right?"

"Yes, you can call me Mike," Mike said, frowning as he looked at the man in front of him.

His face was greenish, and his lips were pale, indicating lung problems.

Given that he constantly had a cigarette in his hand, he must have damaged his lungs from smoking.

"It seems you, like me, don't like using the organization's codename..." Constantine didn't mind Mike's gaze. After a brief chat, he asked, "You should have heard about my situation from Agent O, so did you bring anything good? Our opponent this time is not simple."

As a legitimate exorcist, Constantine's exorcism process often required powerful tools.

The strength of the tools almost represented the exorcist's power.

"Sorry, I'm not accustomed to relying on external objects," Mike replied calmly.

As his strength had rapidly increased, he truly hadn't found any handy weapons along the way.

"Didn't bring anything?" Constantine, unaware of the truth, couldn't help but frown upon hearing this, then probed, "Holy water?... Blessed Cross?... You must at least have a Bible, right?"

However, each time he asked, Mike shook his head.

Finally, Constantine gave up and said in surprise, "Are you sure you're an agent from the Special Department who handles supernatural events?"

This time, Mike nodded.

"Alright, we can talk about these things later. Let's eat first; what would you like to order?" Mike gestured for him to order.

This restaurant, while not bustling, was not a good place to discuss evil spirits.

"Sigh, you don't have any exorcism tools; we're in trouble this time," Constantine looked unenthusiastic, then waved the waiter away.

Then, as if resigned, he pulled Mike's untouched plate in front of him, tasted a bite, and asked, "You don't mind, do you? You look like you don't have an appetite..."

Since the other party had already taken a bite, what opinion could Mike have? He could only shake his head again.

"Hey, let me tell you, the stuff here isn't cheap; I'm saving you money," Constantine seemed to feel that his attitude towards the support personnel earlier had been too cold. He chatted while eating lunch.

At the same time, he still held an unextinguished cigarette in his hand.

He looked strange, no matter how one saw it.
