A scorching wave of air, mixed with the strange sweet scent of charred flesh, permeated the hall.

Every flap of the blood-colored bone wings behind Emily's back pushed this nauseating smell toward Noah and Claire.

These wings weren't for flying, but for slaughter and heat dissipation.

They freed Emily from the shackles of overheating and turned her into a more pure, ground-based killing machine.

"Clang—!"

Bone spikes as sharp as spears tore through the air and collided violently with the metal plate Noah had hurriedly used to block.

Sparks flew in all directions.

An unrivaled, terrifying force surged frantically into his arms through the metal plate.

The web of Noah's thumb split instantly, and blood soaked the cold metal.

The massive force pushed him back several meters, his feet plowing two eye-catching gouges into the hard floor.

On the other side, Claire's situation was equally grim.

Relying on agility far beyond that of an ordinary person, she barely dodged the sweep of the bone wing from the other side.

The grim bone spikes grazed past her cheek.

The sharp wind left a thin, long bloody mark on her face.

The metal pillar behind her, however, was easily sliced open by the blow, leaving a smooth gash half a foot deep.

The glimmer of hope they had just won was completely crushed by these eerie blood-colored bone wings.

Once again, they were plunged into a desperate, bitter struggle, being unilaterally crushed.

Every dodge consumed what little stamina they had left.

Every block caused their bones to let out a groan of being overwhelmed.

Emily's attacks, however, became increasingly frenzied and dense.

She seemed to enjoy this cat-and-mouse game of slaughter.

In those pure gold eyes, a cold, mocking flame burned.

Just as Noah awkwardly dodged another fatal thrust.

Behind him, toward the closed elevator doors leading to the upper floors of the hall.

"Rumble—!!!"

A deafeningly loud impact exploded without warning.

The incredibly heavy special alloy door was forcibly dented and deformed from the outside by an indescribable, terrifying force.

Then came a second hit, and a third.

"Boom! Boom!"

The entire hall shook violently with these savage impacts.

Finally, accompanied by the ear-gritting sound of tearing metal, the completely twisted metal door was violently ripped open.

A massive black figure appeared at the doorway.

It was Leo.

His burly frame seemed even larger than before, and the black leather trench coat he wore was even more heavily damaged.

Without a moment's pause, he violently threw a heavy, black rectangular iron box toward the center of the hall.

The iron box skidded and tumbled across the smooth floor, letting out a series of piercing noises.

This sudden turn of events caused Emily, who was in the middle of a frenzied attack, to abruptly freeze.

She slowly turned her head.

Those pure gold, emotionless eyes fell upon the uninvited guest who had intruded into her "hunting ground."

The next second.

A killing intent more violent and venomous than any before erupted from her.

The two massive blood-colored bone wings behind her back flapped violently.

She transformed into a white lightning bolt almost invisible to the naked eye.

Abandoning Noah and Claire, she charged straight at Leo with a destructive posture.

Leo seemed to have no reaction at all.

He just stood there blankly.

His cloudy single eye stared fixedly at the god-like figure shooting toward him.

"Puchi—!"

The sound of flesh being pierced was dull yet clear.

Without any suspense, the sharp bone spikes at the tips of Emily's massive wings simultaneously pierced Leo's chest, which was as thick as a city wall, from both sides.

Blood sprayed like a fountain, instantly staining the ground in front of him red.

However.

The expected bloody scene of being torn in two did not occur.

The moment he was pierced by the bone spikes, Leo, coming to his senses, let out a pained and angry roar.

His two massive, deformed arms, capable of crushing steel, were like a pair of red-hot giant iron pincers.

He gripped the two blood-colored bone wings that had pierced through his body with a death grip.

The terrifying, knotted muscles on his arms instantly bulged.

Blue-black veins, like hideous earthworms, writhed frantically beneath his grayish-white skin.

Emily struggled for a moment.

Her bone wings, which could easily slice through special alloy, were held so tightly by Leo's power—fueled by life and rage—that they couldn't move.

"Claire!"

Noah's lung-tearing roar echoed throughout the hall.

This fleeting opportunity absolutely could not be missed.

Claire had already taken the chance to aim her Grenade Launcher at Emily once again.

"Swoosh—!"

Another Incendiary Round, carrying all her rage and hope, left the chamber.

It hit Emily's jade-smooth back, which was completely exposed due to her wings being extended, with pinpoint accuracy.

"Boom—!"

Orange-red flames exploded once more.

The terrifying heat of over a thousand degrees, mixed with viscous incendiary agent, frantically scorched Emily's flesh and blood.

"Aaaaaaaaaah—!!!"

A shriek more shrill and venomous than any before erupted from deep within Emily's throat.

She struggled frantically, trying to break free from Leo's restraint.

Waves of massive force pulsed from the bone wings.

Leo's arms began to tear inch by inch in a way visible to the naked eye.

The "crack" of breaking bones and the "snap" of snapping muscle fibers were constant.

But he didn't let go.

He simply used all his remaining strength to firmly pin down the monster that had killed him and his love.

Noah moved.

He picked up the metal plate by his feet, which had been sliced razor-sharp by Emily's bone spikes.

His eyes were bloodshot, like a completely enraged beast.

He rushed forward.

Using all his strength, he swung the metal plate, its edge as sharp as a knife, hard at the base of the blood-colored bone wings on Emily's back.

"Crack—!!!"

A crisp sound of breaking bone that made one's scalp tingle rang out.

The metal plate embedded itself deep into Emily's flesh and bone.

Under Noah's terrifying strength that surpassed limits, he forcibly severed one of her wings.

Emily's pained howling stopped abruptly, and her petite body shuddered violently.

She gave up struggling and used her last bit of strength to leap upward.

Countless blood-red mycelium erupted from her body.

Like living grappling hooks, they firmly seized the ceiling of the hall.

Like a severely wounded spider, she quickly crawled into a large hole in the ceiling created during the battle.

Carrying the severed wing still stuck in her back, she vanished into the darkness.

The battle was temporarily over, and the whole world seemed to go quiet.

Only the ominous "sizzle" of the incendiary agent and the heavy breathing of the three remained in the air.

Noah tossed aside the metal plate, its edge now curled.

He walked quickly to Leo, who had already collapsed to his knees.

The two massive, hideous wounds on Leo's chest were slowly writhing at a non-human speed.

Countless tiny buds of flesh and tentacles extended from the edges of the wounds, intertwining and wrapping around each other in an attempt to repair the fatal trauma.

"How did you get here?"

Noah's voice was terribly hoarse.

"Didn't we say..."

"The parasite inside me..." Leo's voice was intermittent, full of static like bubbles popping.

"...sensed that Durand's Broodmother... has died."

"But..."

"It sensed... an even more terrifying power."

"I was worried... about you."

"So I... came down to check."

His cloudy single eye looked at Noah, and in that gaze, there seemed to be a sliver of extremely complex emotion.

"After all..."

"You are the only ones... willing to talk to me..."

"And what about Ella?"

Claire leaned against the wall, barely steadying herself, her voice carrying a hint of a sob.

"I... found a tape recorder... in the lounge."

The corner of Leo's mouth seemed to pull into a curve that looked worse than crying.

"It should... keep her occupied for a while."

Before he could finish.

"Rumble—!!!"

A loud boom suddenly came from the ceiling above everyone.

Immediately after.

A massive, writhing blood-red mass of flesh fell heavily from the hole Emily had escaped through.

The mass of flesh was as large as a semi-truck.

Its surface was covered with pulsing blood vessels and disgusting, constantly opening and closing spiracles.

It slammed onto the ground with a dull thud.

Then.

The massive blood mass slowly split open.

Like a giant flesh rose watered with blood and viscera, it slowly bloomed before everyone.

The scene was eerie and bloody, terrifying to the extreme.

Emily's figure slowly emerged from the center of the blooming "flesh rose."

Her body had fully recovered.

It was even more perfect and holy than before.

The wing Noah had severed had also grown back.

She stood up from the flesh, her naked body leaning back slightly.

She struck an elegant pose, like an opera soprano.

Then she opened her small, cherry-like lips.

The next second.

An invisible, devastatingly massive sound wave erupted from her mouth.

"Ah—!!!!!"

That wasn't a sound.

It was a pure physical vibration capable of destroying everything.

The air distorted violently, and the ground shook frantically.

Noah, Claire, and Leo, who had just partially recovered from his injuries.

The bodies of the three jolted violently.

It was as if an invisible mountain had been slammed down upon them.

They didn't even have time to react,

pinned to the ground by that irresistible, terrifying force, unable to move.

The sound wave lasted for a full ten seconds.

When the destructive vibration finally stopped.

Noah felt like his world had gone completely silent.

He couldn't hear a thing.

There was only a sharp, persistent, massive ringing in his ears that pierced his entire brain.

He looked at Claire and Leo beside him.

Their expressions were the same as his, filled with pain and bewilderment.

Clearly, they had suffered the same auditory deprivation.

Emily slowly rose from the stamen of the flesh rose.

Her pure gold eyes coldly swept over the three "prey" kneeling on the ground.

Then.

The massive mass of flesh behind her began to writhe violently.

"Puff! Puff! Puff!"

Several massive, thick, blood-red tentacles with sharp bone spikes at their tips shot out from the flesh mass.

Like predatory vipers, with a whistle that tore through the air, they lashed out frantically at the three who had lost their ability to resist.
