Once the Gnoll King was caught off guard by Soren's arrow and Evan's sword, its defeat was set in stone.
In the first place, the main strength of the king was its trait, King's Dominion and King's Presence, that let it to control all the beasts within the chams.
Another was the barrier that let it relax on the altar while letting its enemy fight to death.
In the end, when both didn't work, dying was the only solution left. Even though it used the last trait: Blood Frenzy, Evan and others cut it down without even Soren's help.
