Miriam turned toward the entrance.
"Take me to my husband's office."
The guard standing nearby immediately stepped forward.
"Yes, Madam."
She followed him toward the main entrance, her mind racing as she tried to piece together everything she had noticed since arriving.
Cooper was not in his room.
The servants she had known for years were missing.
No one would answer her questions.
And the estate seemed to have far more eyes watching her than it normally did.
Miriam still didn't know what had happened.
But she was no longer convinced that everything was fine.
If Gerald had chosen to go to his office instead of the hospital, then that was where she would find him.
And this time, she intended to get answers from him directly.
