Victor dressed in silence—dark jeans, a soft black shirt—then returned to the bed. He drew the covers up over her bare shoulders, tucking them carefully around her body so the cool air couldn't reach her.
His fingers brushed a strand of hair from her cheek, lingering for a second longer than necessary.
"Sleep," he said quietly, voice low and steady. "You've earned the rest. I'll handle pack matters. Take as much time as you need."
Maya's lips parted on a soft, half-conscious sound of acknowledgment, but she was already slipping under.
Victor watched her for a moment longer, the hard lines of his face gradually softening as he looked at her sleeping form.
Once he was certain that she had settled comfortably beneath the covers, he leaned down and pressed one last lingering kiss against her forehead before quietly slipping out of the room.
He closed the door behind him with deliberate care, making sure the sound would not disturb her.
