Luna nodded thoughtfully.
"That would certainly make things easier."
"It would make them safer," Richard corrected gently. "Peace can disappear overnight. Strong alliances last much longer."
His gaze drifted toward the curtains, where the first faint rays of morning had begun slipping into the room, slowly replacing the darkness with soft golden light.
For a while, neither of them spoke again.
Luna rested quietly against his shoulder, listening to the steady rhythm of his breathing as the strange unease inside her gradually began to settle. Perhaps he was right. Perhaps exhaustion had simply allowed her imagination to wander too far.
