A thought crossed my mind, I guess our minds, because Siegfried had the same thoughts going through his head, but what did our family look like in this world? When we were born, Siegfried came up with the thought that our sensory processors in our eyes, accompanied by the shock of reincarnation, along with the mental shock of death, suicide on his part, and murder on mine, helped cause us to have both a form of infantile amnesia and memory loss. Because of that, we knew our parents existed, and they were the Duke and Duchess of Luminareth, or Luminar… We still haven't figured out yet what the terminologies are in this world.
But one hour ago, my butler and his maid, Lovis and Seri, came into our room at the usual time for feeding us the regular slop we've been ingesting, but instead of feeding us, they announced that our parents in this world have returned to our estate, and want to see us. They picked us up from our cribs and have been carrying us throughout the estate at a rather slow rate, so Siegfried and I were taking in the scenery. It was nothing as I've seen, it reminded me a bit of France or Germany, a mixture of Versailles and Neuschwanstein. There was gold and silver, shiny colors embedded all through the tapestries and walls. It felt more like a castle for a king rather than a Duke and Duchess… If this is how the Duke and Duchess live, how lavish is the royal castle where the king or emperor or whatever lives?
But I digress, one major thing I've noticed Siegfried is hoping to see, and I, to a somewhat lesser extent, is who our siblings are and what they're like. I've viewed large fragments of his past, and he mine, from our interactions. If we focus hard enough, we can see our memories, but it's seemingly easiest to just talk about a topic, and the memories and images flood into our brains. It's quite the surreal experience, but from that, I know the horrible things and tragedies that have happened to him, mainly losing his siblings. Those tragedies, unfortunately, came indirectly from me… hence why, after knowing how I was killed and who killed me, and seeing that that man is now my telepath brother in another world, I wasn't as angry as I would've been. It feels as if our emotions somewhat fluctuate to be more neutral when it comes to our interaction; it's a weird feeling… But from all of that, though, I know he was truly excited to see them, and the sight of that truly disgusted me.
We JUST had a mental turn around for him not one hour ago, and now he's done a full 180 from his few-month mental lull. "You sure had a change of heart, Siegfried…" In the middle of me saying that, I had a thought that's been gnawing at me for a while, but I didn't know when to state it, "That name's getting annoying to say. Maybe we should come up with a nickname for the oh so mighty son of the Duke and Duchess of this region." I said with a taunting sneer. I could tell based on his mental projection that he was chagrined and embarrassed by my taunt, but didn't mentally disagree either.
"Well, if that's the case, I wouldn't mind being called Sieg. With a name like Siegfried, you should've been a male, i.e., my brother, instead of a sister, and named Roy. Not to mention your name is a mouthful too." He was right, Amaranthine was an obscenely long and cumbersome name. I assume it had something to do with nobility, but our names were a bit odd, too. "Your shortened name should be Amy or something like that; it was a stereotypically ditsy name we had for chicks back in college." He finished in a mental cackle. My enjoyment at teasing him bit me in the ass, and now I was pissed.
"God, why did he have to transport me with the most intellectual and skilled terrorist on Earth, with the emotional maturity of a toddler?" I sighed, knowing this would lead nowhere.
After that, we were carried for 20 or so more minutes until we were in front of the most lavishly decorated door I've ever seen in my entire life. They were a beautiful, unstained white marble, with gold trim and a crest in the center of each door. Each door was also giving off something; it felt alien, like a power to repel anything. "Siegfried, Amaranthine, are you ready to meet your parents and siblings? They've been excited to see you for a long while." Seri stated in a delighted squeal. Siegfried made a little moan, trying to say yes, and Seri cooed at him, loving every second of being with Siegfried. Lovis handed Amaranthine to Seri, opening the great doors, blinding us with light. Seri gave her back to Lovis, and they both walked into the spacious room, around the size of the Oval Office.
In there, a handsome man in his late 20's was sitting behind a desk that seemed to be made of darkness itself. It was a pure black and beautiful wood desk accented with white trims, which made it feel like I was staring at a yin-yang symbol from Chinese beliefs. His blue eyes and blond hair, which were shoulder length, and his facial features sporting a mustache that felt a bit dated…he was undeniably Western European in appearance, which was the final confirmation based on how Lovis and Seri looked. But was outfitted in a beautifully ornate outfit befitting Ducal houses from 1700's Germany.
There was a woman behind him to the right; however, to say she was beautiful was an understatement. She had hair as red as a lava pool, and eyes just as molten in color. Her cool stare lightened when she noticed we had come into the room. She was the picture of what a Goddess of War should look like; she was in an elegant black dress that felt like something from a fantasy world. We are in a world of swords and sorcery, but to see it in the apparel, too, is quite jarring. Most shocking, though, not just to me but to both Siegfried and me, was the giant curved staff that she was holding in her left hand. It was slightly taller than her, give or take 6 feet tall, and had a gem as brilliant as a ruby at the center of the curve, emitting a light that truly felt otherworldly. After a few moments of amazement, only then did I, and Siegfried, notice the other 3 in the room.
There were 2 girls and 1 boy; the girls seemed to be around 8 and 3, while the boy was around 5. They had a mixture of both of our parents' genes in them. The eldest girl looked dignified with an air of ego that was common in her age. She had striking strawberry blond hair with blue eyes; she had mid-length hair and wore a beautifully striking blue and yellow dress. What I assumed was the heir apparent, and the oldest son was also a proud and seemingly energetic young fellow. He had short red hair and wore a cute little button-down with black slacks. His eyes, however, were the most striking; he had one blue and one red eye. The youngest, but still older than both Siegfried and me, was a timidly shy-seeming girl who was just adorable. She had red hair and red eyes, just like our mother. If you were to tell me we cloned our mother and this is her, I'd believe it. She was also wearing a black dress like our mother, which helped the similarities.
"Duke Aurelian and Duchess Valerienne, along with Mistress Hanessa, Lord Leovarion, and Mistress Kaelis, we, Lovis and Seri, servants of the house of Godfall and protectors of Amaranthine and Siegfried, have brought Siegfried and Amaranthine to you. Here they are." Seri said, whilst bowing to our mother and father, holding us out to them.
"Oh my God their both so cute!" Said Hanessa, starting the conversation in glee.
"They both look so cool! But that comes with the territory of being the children of high nobility!" Said Leovarion with a prideful thump to his chest.
"They… look scary… W..why do they have black and white hair… and… g-g-golden eyes. They don't look like mama or dada…" Said Kaelis finally, causing the atmosphere in the room to shift in an odd direction… shit, is my adorable big sister going to cause trouble for Siegfried and me?
"Kaelis, don't say such rude things. Has your tutor been slacking? I should've expected as much from an outside instructor," Valerienne, our mother, said in utter exasperation. "Watch your tone, Kaelis, and you two as well, Hanessa and Leovarion. You are the representatives of the region of Luminar, where the people of Luminareth call home. Also, you are in the presence of your father, the reigning Duke, of the 3rd most powerful nation in the world. I will instruct your tutors to instill this within you thoroughly…" She finished in utter exasperation.
"Now now, dear, no need to be hard on them. They are only children, and children aren't meant to understand this stuff." Aurelian, or I guess father, said in a scolding tone towards mother. "We must let them have some semblance of freedom before the society of nobility breaks down their world views. Besides, this is a joyous occasion. Siegfried and Amaranthine, my darling children. Welcome to your home!"
