Upon hearing his words, I almost threw my phone aside. My voice rose as I confronted him, unable to hold back my anger. "John, what is wrong with you? What did you install on my phone?"
He answered without any urgency, as if it meant nothing. "It's just a simple tracking tool. You shouldn't react so strongly. I only want to make sure you're safe and doing fine. That's all."
"You're out of your mind." My grip on the phone tightened, my emotions close to breaking.
"Calm down, Scarlett," he continued, sounding almost hurt. "I just want to keep an eye on you. Isn't it better this way? I can know what's going on with you anytime."
His tone made it sound harmless, but it only made my chest tighten.
"You should stay away from me."
I ended the call immediately and rushed to the washroom, flushing the device away without hesitation. My hands trembled as anger and shock settled deep inside me. I couldn't even tell when he had managed to cross that line.
