Lyra's POV
I noticed Ash's dissatisfaction written across his face, so after catching the eyes of the others, I suggested to Ash, "Let's move aside and have a private conversation."
"Xander," Alaric interjected, following my cue. "Give me a hand with these training equipment. We need to arrange them for the next drill."
Xander muttered under his breath but complied.
As they busied themselves with the practice dummies, Ash and I walked hand in hand toward the side of the building. Once we were beyond earshot of the others, Ash yanked my hand and drew me against his chest. His embrace was fierce, nearly crushing me in its intensity.
I allowed him this moment, understanding his need to feel our connection.
"I will never excuse what he put you through. What he attempted to do. Especially after casting you aside. Promise me you remember everything."
