Chapter 191 - Chapter 191

The shockwave from the clash of red and black fire tore through the western jungle, uprooting trees and sending a massive plume of smoke into the gray sky.

Natsu slid backward, his boots carving deep trenches into the dirt. He gritted his teeth, shaking his right hand.

The flesh on his knuckles was blistered and smoking.

His Fire Dragon magic was being overwhelmed by the sheer, heavy density of the God Slayer flames.

Zancrow stepped out of the smoke, entirely unharmed. The black fire danced wildly around his shoulders, feeding on his manic energy.

"What's wrong, Salamander?" Zancrow cackled, tilting his head at a disturbing angle. "Is the heat too much for you? I thought dragons were supposed to be tough! You're just a little lizard playing with matches!"

"Shut up!" Natsu roared, pushing the pain aside. He lunged forward again, his fists igniting. "Fire Dragon's Sword Horn!"

He surrounded his entire body in a blazing aura of red fire, launching himself headfirst at Zancrow like a fiery missile.

Zancrow didn't dodge.

He just opened his mouth and laughed. As Natsu collided with him, Zancrow inhaled sharply.

The black flames around him flared, acting like a vacuum.

He literally sucked the red fire right off Natsu's body, swallowing the Dragon Slayer's magic in one massive gulp.

Natsu crashed into the dirt, his flames extinguished. He looked up in shock.

"Thanks for the meal!" Zancrow grinned, wiping his mouth. "Your fire tastes awful, by the way. Too light. No flavor. Now, let me show you what a real meal looks like!"

Zancrow raised both hands high above his head.

The black fire gathered into a colossal, swirling sphere that eclipsed the dim sunlight filtering through the canopy.

"Flame God's Supper!"

He threw the massive black fireball down. It morphed mid-air into a pair of terrifying, fiery jaws aimed right at Natsu.

"Natsu, move!" Happy screamed, grabbing Natsu's scarf and trying to pull him away.

Natsu grabbed Happy, shielding the blue cat with his own body as the black jaws clamped down on them.

The explosion leveled the entire clearing, leaving nothing but a massive, smoldering crater of dark ash.

Zancrow walked to the edge of the crater, looking down at the smoke. He expected to see a charred corpse.

Instead, Natsu was on his knees, his clothes torn and his skin badly burned, but he was still breathing.

He had wrapped his charred white scarf tightly around himself and Happy, the ancient fabric absorbing just enough of the lethal magic to keep them alive.

"You're a stubborn roach, I'll give you that," Zancrow sneered, raising his hand to deliver the finishing blow.

"But playtime is over."

...

In the southern jungle, the ground shook with every step Kain Hikaru took.

The large dark mage stomped forward, waving his voodoo doll. "Mr. Cursey wants to give you a big hug! A really, really tight hug!"

Cana grabbed Lucy's arm, pulling her out of the way just as Kain slammed his massive hands together, crushing a boulder into powder.

"He's too durable!" Cana panted, clutching her ribs. "My explosions don't even scratch him when he uses that iron curse!"

"Then we don't use force," Lucy said, her eyes narrowing. She pulled a different golden key from her belt.

"We use strategy. Open, Gate of the Ram! Aries!"

A burst of pink light illuminated the trees, and the timid, pink-haired celestial spirit appeared, shivering slightly.

"I'm sorry... did I do something wrong?"

"No time to apologize, Aries!" Lucy pointed at the charging Kain. "Use Wool Bomb!"

"Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry!" Aries raised her hands, summoning a massive, explosive cloud of thick, pink wool that enveloped Kain entirely.

The dark mage tripped over his own feet, getting tangled in the incredibly dense, fluffy material. "Hey! I can't see! And it's so itchy!"

"Cana, now!" Lucy yelled.

Cana didn't hesitate. She drew three cards, her magic flaring. "Water Volley!"

A massive blast of pressurized water erupted from her cards, soaking the pink wool. The material instantly absorbed the water, becoming incredibly heavy and pinning Kain to the ground.

"Follow it up!" Cana shouted, throwing a second card. "Thunderbolt!"

The lightning struck the soaked wool. The water conducted the electricity perfectly, sending a massive, high-voltage shock directly into Kain.

The dark mage shrieked, his large body seizing as the magic fried his nerves.

"We got him!" Lucy cheered, high-fiving Cana.

But the smoke cleared, and Kain was already pushing himself up on his hands and knees. His sunglasses were cracked, and he looked genuinely angry now.

The childish demeanor vanished.

"That actually hurt," Kain growled, pulling a new strand of hair and grabbing a glowing lacrima crystal from his pocket.

He swapped the doll's iron body for the crystal. "Curse of the Shining Giant. I'm gonna vaporize you two!"

His body began to glow with a blinding, radioactive light. The heat radiating off him instantly evaporated the wet wool.

Lucy and Cana stepped back, their brief victory turning into cold dread.

...

The western canyon was a battlefield of shattered rock and splintered wood.

Erza swung her heavy Purgatory mace, the black steel tearing through a massive, twisting root that shot out of the canyon wall.

The sheer kinetic force of her swing shattered the wood, but Azuma simply raised a finger, and three more roots erupted from the ground to take its place.

"Your physical strength is impressive, Titania," Azuma said calmly, standing on a thick branch high above the canyon floor.

"But you are fighting the island itself. My Great Tree Arc has endless resources here."

"I don't need endless resources," Erza yelled, her magic flaring in a blinding circle. "I just need one clear shot! Requip: Heaven's Wheel Armor!"

The heavy dark armor vanished, replaced by elegant silver plating and metal wings.

Dozens of razor-sharp swords materialized in the air around her, spinning rapidly.

"Circle Sword!"

Erza unleashed the barrage of blades.

The swords tore through the canyon, dicing the incoming wooden roots into splinters before converging directly on Azuma's position.

Azuma didn't retreat.

He crossed his arms, his tribal tattoos glowing fiercely. "Foliage Strike."

The leaves on the surrounding branches suddenly hardened into razor-sharp projectiles.

They detached in a massive swarm, intercepting Erza's swords mid-air.

Metal clashed against magical leaves, ringing out like a thousand tiny bells.

The two attacks canceled each other out, leaving a rain of sliced leaves and shattered blades falling to the canyon floor.

Azuma dropped down from the branch, landing smoothly a few yards away from Erza. He looked at her with a mix of respect and pity.

"You are a magnificent warrior, Erza Scarlet," Azuma said, his dark eyes locking onto hers. "It is a shame you are destined to fall today. Your guild is already broken."

Erza narrowed her eyes, gripping her twin swords tight. "Fairy Tail doesn't break."

"Your Master is defeated," Azuma stated bluntly. "Master Hades crushed him. I felt Makarov's magical signature vanish from the island. Without your leader, your guild is just a collection of frightened children wandering in the dark."

Erza's breath hitched. For a fraction of a second, her stoic facade cracked, a flash of pure horror crossing her face.

The Master couldn't be down. He was the invincible shield of Fairy Tail.

"If you surrender now, I will grant you a swift, honorable end," Azuma offered.

Erza lowered her head.

Her bangs shadowed her eyes.

The canyon fell silent, save for the wind whistling through the jagged rocks.

Then, she looked up.

The horror in her eyes was gone, replaced by a fierce, unyielding inferno of resolve.

"If the Master has fallen, then it is my duty to carry his will," Erza declared, her voice ringing out with undeniable authority. "I won't shed a single tear until every member of Grimoire Heart is driven from this island. Requip!"

...

In the heart of the northern jungle, Elfman and Evergreen sprinted through the thick brush.

Elfman was carrying an unconscious Mirajane over his broad shoulder, panting heavily.

"Keep moving!" Evergreen urged, her fan gripped tight. "I saw the red flare! We need to get back to the base camp!"

"I'm running as fast as a real man can!" Elfman grunted, adjusting his grip on his sister.

They burst through a wall of vines, stepping into a small, sunlit clearing. They stopped dead in their tracks.

Standing in the center of the clearing, blocking their path, was a man in a sharp, elegant suit.

He pushed his thick glasses up the bridge of his nose, spinning a silver rose between his fingers.

He looked like he belonged at a high-society gala, not a jungle war zone.

"Ah, the frightened prey scurries through the forest," Rustyrose sighed dramatically, shaking his head.

"So desperate. So tragic. But alas, your frantic flight ends here, upon the stage of my imagination."

Elfman gently set Mirajane down on the grass, stepping in front of her.

His right arm expanded, transforming into his massive Beast Soul limb. "Who the hell are you?! Move aside, or I'll smash you!"

"I am Rustyrose of the Seven Kin of Purgatory," he introduced himself with a theatrical bow. "And I wield the Arc of Embodiment. The power to turn my deepest imaginations into reality."

Rustyrose raised his hand toward the sky. "Allow me to compose your requiem. Come forth, Beast of Muck!"

The ground bubbled and warped.

A massive, horrific monster formed from thick, toxic mud and jagged bones pulled itself out of the dirt.

It roared, a sickening, wet sound that made Evergreen cover her ears.

The beast loomed over them, its massive jaws dripping with acidic sludge.

"Fairy Dust!" Evergreen shouted, firing a barrage of concussive magic at the monster.

The blasts hit the mud, but the beast just absorbed the impact, reforming instantly.

It raised a massive, sludge-covered arm, preparing to crush them all into the earth.

Elfman braced himself, ready to take the hit.

A sharp, metallic whirring sound cut through the clearing.

A massive, heavy silver hammer spun through the air like a boomerang.

It slammed directly into the Beast of Muck's chest.

The impact carried a devastating, concussive shockwave that rippled through the monster's entire body.

The Beast of Muck exploded into a shower of harmless, inert dirt, collapsing back into the ground in seconds.

Rustyrose blinked, his dramatic pose faltering.

"What? Who dares interrupt my masterpiece?"

"Your imagination is pretty boring," a calm voice echoed from the trees.

Ace stepped out from the shadows of the canopy, his dark coat snapping in the breeze.

He looked at Elfman and Evergreen, giving them a brief nod. "Get to the camp. I'll handle this ugly mug."

"Ace!" Elfman grinned in relief. "You sure you don't need a real man to help you fight him?"

"Just run, Elfman," Ace smirked.

Rustyrose glared at Ace, his silver rose crumbling into dust in his grip.

"You destroy my creation and insult my art? How vulgar. I will forge a blade of pure despair to cut your arrogant tongue from your mouth!"

Rustyrose pointed his fingers forward. "Sword of the Underworld!"

A massive, ethereal broadsword formed of dark, jagged magic materialized in the air, shooting straight toward Ace at blinding speed.

Ace pulled his D-Tector, swiping his hand across the screen.

"Zudomon!"

A massive stream of blue and white digital code erupted in front of Ace.

The data forged into a towering, heavily muscled walrus-like beast, wearing thick, green furry pants and carrying a massive, spiked hammer made of shining silver metal.

Zudomon let out a deep, rumbling battle cry.

He stepped forward, swinging his massive hammer to meet the incoming Sword of the Underworld.

"Vulcan's Hammer!"

The hammer clashed with the imagined blade. Rustyrose smirked, expecting his weapon to slice through the beast's defense.

But Zudomon's hammer was forged from Chrome Digizoid, the strongest metal in the digital world.

It shattered the imagined magic into a million glowing shards.

Rustyrose's eyes widened in genuine shock. "Impossible! My Arc of Embodiment is absolute! What kind of beast is that?!"

"He's the guy who's going to smash your reality," Ace said calmly, crossing his arms.

"Let's see how much punishment your imagination can actually take."
