AKAME ASSASINATION (30)
While Koji continued his journey to uncover somewhat of a conspiracy that had began to spread in the form of a rumor concerning the abduction of the Pokot villagers mostly men and children. Gil and Nala waited in the tall thicket of the grass that surrounded them to observe whoever it was that came after them.
The car slowly came to a halt a few meters away from the grass in which both of them were hiding in. Gil's breathing had slowed but Nala's actually seemed to increase, probably because she had no idea what the beast humming before both of them was.
As such she was perhaps in a state of panic. Gil gripped her hand, not in a rough way, but in a way that would tell her 'Hey, don't worry.' And it would seem she got the message because she actively tried slowing her breathing.
The door to the big hammer opened revealing a woman in leather clothes. Not like Gil could make out who it was in all this darkness even though the car's headlights were on.
The other doors opened as well, and three more figures came out of the car. Gil squinted as he tried to figure out who was there, in his attempts it was actually his nose that came up with some sort of an answer.
'I've smelt this before.' He thought, but the other smells in the area muddied up his mental image. Meanwhile Nala was locked in wondering who those people who came out of the car were.
A sudden bright beam shone across the field of grass where the hammer had stopped. It scanned the area for any possible anomalies in landscape. Thanks to the tall grass surrounding the two it seemed as though they weren't spotted.
Nala slowly shook Gil, who urgently turned to her to see what was wrong. With her hands she began drawing symbols in the air, or at least that's how it seemed to Gil who didn't understand what she was saying . She shrugged, she didn't know having a language barrier this wide would be difficult to overcome. In her defence though its not as though she was prepared for this in advance.
After a while of using the flash light it would appear as though they were satisfied and switched it off. However, they didn't walk away, in fact they began walking towards the two rather than away from them. Although two of the four figures split up as the other group went in the opposite direction.
'Um… who are these people and what do they want?' Gil thought for a moment, although nothing really came to mind in that instant probably because his entire body still hurt due to his internal injuries so he was unable to focus completely.
But maybe he didn't have to as the two figures that walked towards them switched directions again. This gave them an opportunity, but they would have to be smart about it. Gil stood up as he saw this as the moment to move.
Nala quickly pulled him back down clearly showing she had other plans. Or that she probably thought the whole situation through much more thoroughly than Gil did.
Instead of speaking to him, she decided to show him what her idea was. Crawling along the tall grass. In her mind she created a mental picture of what the landscape should look like, probably because she was born and raised on these lands so figuring out how they were wouldn't be an issue.
She turned back and gestured for Gil to follow her. He nodded realizing the play she was going for, as such he started following her also crawling on all fours. The blades of grass cut across his bare skin (Because he ripped his shirt off) Although he wouldn't really feel it until hours later.
They needed to leave here and go wherever it was Nala had decided to take them.
'A place we can rest for a bit and then begin looking for Akame and Catherine. Probably that guy has already found them though.' (He is refering to Koji)
The thought of him losing to a professional hunter really churned his stomach for whatever reason. But regardless of his wants first the both of them had to make it out of here in one piece. Nala looked back at Gil her eyes glimmering with something, their eyes ended up meeting and even though it was extremely dark she turned her head away somewhat embarrassed that she was caught staring.
She just had to know why, why would Gil risk his life for her?
But before we answer that question first we have answer a relatively simpler question. How are they going to survive this encounter. A simple question with a relatively simple answer… if they had time to come up with one. Before they could even continue the ground below them began to rise into somewhat of a platform above the tall grass exposing both of them.
EARTH ALCHEMY: GENISIS OF CREATION!
Gil knew this scent was familiar, he concentrated F.E into his eyes and followed the trail left by the owner of this ability. He didn't need to follow it for long because Teddy stood just a few feet from both of them.
"Is this your failed attempt at hiding?" Jericho came up in front of Nala and looked down at her, "Is really pathetic."
"Oh, you're the girl who I was fighting with a few nights ago." Gil was a bit relieved, "Thank God."
His entire body relaxed at once causing a sudden fatigue, "I thought I was gonna have to fight again, I'm not at full strength."
Jericho pointed her rod at Gil's face. "I don't think you understand the position your in."
Nala got up suddenly pointing her index and middle finger at Jericho.
"Hey its ok, I know them."
This sentiment seemed not to stretch both ways.
ORGANIC ALCHEMY: CARBON BASED ROD!
Sending a flurry of rods at Gil which Nala easily deflected with her golden spear, which appeared out of nowhere.
"I am not your friend, in fact we're enemies. Right Teddy!"
Teddy stared at her blankly and proceeded to stare at Gil, but he wore a friendly smile.
"Hi Gil." He waved.
"Hey Teddy." Gil waved back.
"Teddy!" Jericho exclaimed, "Stop being buddy, buddy with him."
"Why though?"
"Why? Because they are siding with the enemy. Akame Saikyo, he is the enemy."
"Akame… enemy?" Gil looked at her, "Wait you're not with that silver haired guy are you?"
"Silver hair?" Jericho drew a blank, "I have no idea who you're talking about… and stop changing the subject."
"I wasn't really."
"Yeah you were." Jericho pointed her rod again. "Tell me where he is."
"…" Gil thought carefully before he spoke these words, "I don't know where he is."
"Stop messing around, I've got no time for this!"
"Seriously, he was kidnapped in his sleep."
"…" Jericho and Teddy looked at each other.
"Wow Gil you're terrible at lying, just like me." Teddy chuckled.
"Yeah, even I know that was lie. How could he?"
"I'm not lying." He scratched his chin, "I think."
"You think?"
"Yeah, I don't know where he is… but since we're both looking for him wanna team up?" Gil asked with a smile.
"That would be helpful." Teddy agreed.
"Fuck no!" Jericho disagreed, "I'm not teaming up with the enemy."
"But why thought?" Gil asked.
"Yeah, but why though?" Teddy also asked.
"My goodness, what is wrong with the both of you, we're not on the same side here."
"Hey what are you guys arguing about?" A familiar voice came knocking at Gil's door, but this voice and scent he remembered without thinking too much about it.'
Justine came to a halt as his eyes met with Gil's. Gil got up not breaking any eye contact, "Hey, its been a while. Justine."
His eyes widened with a sudden panic, but he quickly shook it off and with a smile of his own he answered.
"Yeah, it has."
A LONG AWAITED REUNION!
