It was two of Devra's runners.
Caelum knew them. Not well, but enough. Young, field-trained, the kind of people Devra sent when she needed something done quietly and fast. They came down the stairs breathing hard and stopped at the bottom when they saw the room, saw the light, saw Lyra standing in the center of it. One of them said something under her breath that wasn't quite a word.
Caelum crossed to them.He kept his voice low and steady. "Tell me."
They had gone to the northern building after Drevon left. Tracked him through the city. He was moving. Not rushing but moving with direction, working through the streets in a pattern that was getting tighter and closer, the way someone moved when they were narrowing down a location rather than going directly to one.
He knew the primary circle had lit up. He was searching for it.
Ten minutes. Maybe less.
Caelum looked at Vaelor across the room. Vaelor was already at the base of the stairs. Aelara was beside him.
