I had been searching everywhere for Freda. One of the omegas said she saw my mate heading toward the forest alone. That made my blood run cold. The forest was dangerous right now, Especially with the curse growing stronger every day.
I ran through the trees following her scent trail. But then I caught something else on the wind. Something that made my heart stop beating. Kyran's scent mixed together with Freda's and underneath both I smelled the unmistakable scent of mating happening.
"No," I said out loud to the empty forest. "That cannot be right. They would never do that to me. He would never betray me like that."
But scents do not lie. A wolf's nose never mistakes something that important. I followed the combined trail deeper into the forest. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it might explode.
My wolf was snarling and clawing inside me. Please let me be wrong. Please let this be some kind of mistake or misunderstanding.
