He reached out his pale hand, pressing his fingertips against the icy surface of the projection array.
From Ji'an's perspective, it looked as though he was reaching through the mist to touch her cheek.
"You must finish your business in the capital quickly," Wangchen urged gently, his eyes burning with an intense, suppressed heat. "Do not let anyone or anything delay you. Come back to me, Ok? I will be waiting."
"I will," Ji'an promised, smiling brightly, placing her own hand against the projection, her fingers aligning with his ghostly image. "I'll wrap things up here as fast as I can. You just focus on your seclusion! Don't let your inner demons get the best of you!"
If only she knew.
"My demons are entirely under control," Wangchen lied flawlessly, his smile never wavering. "Rest well, Brother Ji'an. Lock your doors. Do not let anyone disturb you."
"Goodnight, Wangchen, Fighting!" Ji'an beamed.
She pulled her hand back, tapping the jade bead on the bracelet.
