Chapter 270 - Sandman VS Sorcerer Spider-Man

After finishing another cup of milk tea, Lucas observed that Wanda's emotions were stable and she didn't seem overly sad about Agatha's matter.

He took out the darkhold and pushed it across the table to Wanda.

Since Wanda was emotionally stable, there was no need to postpone this matter.

"This is... the darkhold? Lucas, didn't you say the darkhold was destroyed by Chthon?" Wanda took the darkhold, puzzled.

"This is another one, it originally belonged to Agatha."

Lucas briefly explained why he was giving the darkhold to Wanda.

"So, my next stage of training is to study the darkhold?" Wanda asked.

Lucas nodded, then shook his head. "Studying the darkhold is only to help you better understand Chaos Magic. Chaos Magic is an extraordinary ancient power. It is not weaker than the dark magic created by Chthon, and it has far fewer side effects."

Wanda nodded, then asked, "I understand. Then if I don't understand something, can I ask you?"

"You can."

Lucas thought for a moment, estimating his own magical attainments.

He should be able to guide Wanda, right?

If not, then practical teaching it would be.

Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth.

"Emergency broadcast!"

"Emergency broadcast!"

"Emergency broadcast!"

"A superpowered criminal has appeared on Madison Avenue at 42nd Street in Manhattan, New York City. Nearby citizens should evacuate as soon as possible."

Suddenly, an emergency message from CBS, Columbia Broadcasting System, interrupted the TV in the beverage shop.

Seeing this, Wanda picked up the remote control and switched to the CBS channel.

The picture was a bit shaky, indicating the photographer's unstable emotions, but this didn't affect it much.

On the screen, a giant made of sand, dozens of meters tall, was wreaking havoc.

"Sandman?" Lucas was surprised.

"Lucas, do you know him?" Wanda asked.

"Last Halloween, he came out to cause trouble. It just so happened that he ran into me, Gwen, Helen, and little Gwen."

Lucas was a little puzzled, and a little displeased. "But wasn't he defeated by Gwen then and captured by S.W.O.R.D.? To prevent him from escaping, I even had Tony relay the method for imprisoning him."

"He might have escaped recently. After the United States was attacked by the Dark Elves a while ago, various infrastructures were severely damaged, causing a lot of destruction and chaos." Wanda guessed.

After speaking, she was about to open a portal to go and support.

Golden sparks flickered, then were extinguished by Lucas's hand.

"Wait a moment."

"What's wrong?" Wanda cast a questioning look at Lucas.

"Look, someone's already there." Lucas explained, pointing at the screen on the TV.

In the corner of the screen, a figure was swinging towards Sandman.

She was wearing a silver bodysuit with a spider pattern on her chest, and rose gold stripes adorned the edges of her suit.

From her physique, excluding Gwen, it should be Erin.

"It's Sorcerer Spider-Man!"

The reporter's voice on the scene confirmed Lucas's guess.

"Sorcerer Spider-Man is here, she will definitely defeat this criminal and protect us."

After Erin appeared, the photographer's hand became much steadier, and the picture wasn't as shaky. This showed his great trust in Erin.

"Is this Sandman unlucky, or is it fate's choice? Every time he goes out, he runs into Spider-Man." Lucas teased.

He sat up straight, ready to watch a good show.

A good show of Sorcerer Spider-Man fighting Sandman again.

Although watching on TV didn't give the same immersive feeling as being there, it had its own unique charm.

Wanda shook her head and sat back down, but her eyes couldn't help but show a hint of worry.

In terms of physical size, Sandman far surpassed Sorcerer Spider-Man.

In front of Sandman, Sorcerer Spider-Man was like a spider in front of a human, truly a bug.

However, the power of this bug far exceeded that of a normal spider.

Both were like enemies meeting, eyes blazing with fury, showing no intention of holding back.

Sandman harbored deep resentment, seeing Erin reminded him of the other Spider-Man, Gwen.

Erin, on the other hand, had suffered a setback at Sandman's hands before.

On the screen, Sorcerer Spider-Man and Sandman met with a direct punch. The vastly different sized fists clashed, and the next moment a roar sounded from the TV speakers.

Rumble!

On the screen, Sorcerer Spider-Man punched Sandman's enormous fist, causing it to explode.

Just as Sandman was visibly shocked, Sorcerer Spider-Man raised her wrist and shot a web, pulling open a fire hydrant at Sandman's feet. Water immediately gushed out, drenching Sandman and slightly hardening his body.

Seizing this opportunity, Sorcerer Spider-Man delivered a powerful punch. As terrifying power erupted, a portion of the sand scattered and Sandman's body rapidly shrank.

"Sorcerer Spider-Man!"

"Sorcerer Spider-Man!"

Cheers erupted both at the battle scene and in the beverage shop, all celebrating Erin's victory.

"Boring."

Lucas shook his head.

He did want to see a revenge plot, but this revenge was too easy, which made it less interesting.

"Erin doesn't seem to be able to do anything about him. Do you need me to help her?" Wanda asked.

On the screen, Erin had the upper hand, suppressing Sandman with a flurry of blows. However, this kind of pure physical attack could not cause substantial damage to Sandman.

Lucas also noticed this.

"Wanda, you have to believe in Spider-Man's wisdom." He said, feigning seriousness.

But the involuntary curve of his lips exposed his true thoughts.

He just wanted to watch some fun, to see the bootleg Sorcerer Spider-Man get beaten up.

Soon, Sandman also discovered this and burst out laughing. His laughter, coming from the TV, was incredibly rampant.

"Ineffective! Ineffective! Your attacks are useless against me!"

Lucas couldn't help but sit up straight, reaching out to grab some snacks from who knows where.

Hot dogs, fish fillets, octopus fritters, egg tarts, french fries.

However, the subsequent development dumbfounded Lucas.

Just as he was expecting Sandman to rise up and engage in a big battle with Erin, Sandman turned and ran.

Seeing this, Erin quickly gave chase.

The on-site reporters and photographers also took off running, though they clearly couldn't keep up with Sandman and Erin.

Sandman and Erin, one in front and one behind, quickly disappeared from view.

The on-site reporter ran frantically, realizing she still couldn't catch up.

Suddenly, she seemed to receive some news and quickly made up for it.

"Dear viewers, please do not rush to change channels. Our helicopter has already caught up and will soon re-lock onto Sorcerer Spider-Man and the criminal."

After a while, the TV screen flickered and switched to the helicopter's perspective. Moreover, multiple cameras were constantly adjusting their angles.

However, for a while, Erin and Sandman, in a chase, did not continue to fight.

The situation temporarily eased.

"Lucas, what are you doing?" Wanda asked.

Lucas rolled his eyes, knowing that Wanda was asking the obvious.

"You treat me to milk tea, I treat you to snacks." Lucas said casually, handing a hot dog to Wanda.

Wanda took it, took a bite, and asked, "Why does this taste so much like mine?"

"Cough, cough! It's not 'like'. This is what I just got from the back kitchen."

"Then you still say you're treating me?" Wanda said, speechless.

"I paid for it, so of course I'm treating you." Lucas replied.

This time it was Wanda's turn to roll her eyes, then take another fierce bite of the hot dog, smacking her lips as she chewed.

Lucas was startled, then picked up a hot dog himself to hide his panic, taking a bite and saying vaguely while eating, "By the way, Wanda, tell me what's been happening on Earth recently."

"Didn't the Super Hero Registration Act get passed before, restricting super-powered individuals? Why is Erin now openly going out and acting heroically again?"

"And it's one thing for others to seem quite used to it, but why are S.W.O.R.D. Agents cooperating with her?"

At this moment, on the TV screen, S.W.O.R.D. Agents also joined the battle.

They seemed to be intentionally cooperating with Erin, driving Sandman towards the riverbank outside Manhattan Island.

That was one of the few sparsely populated areas in Manhattan.

Wanda explained, "It's all because of the Dark Elves' raid before. After that incident, this country fell into chaos, and the federation was powerless to control the situation. Left with no choice, they could only let each state figure things out for themselves."

"So, some states still reject super-powered individuals, considering them sources of plague and super-criminals. Other states, however, embrace super-powered individuals, considering them Super Heroes. And New York State is the latter."

Then she asked Lucas for his opinion, "Lucas, what do you think?"

Lucas said, swallowing his food, "What do I think? I'm sitting and watching."
