Chapter 80 - Epilogue: After the Curse

The fractured land was quiet now. Jagged stones still jutted into the sky, and fissures scarred the earth, but the oppressive weight that had once pulsed through every crevice was gone. The whispers, the shadows, the endless shifting of the fractures—they had all vanished.

Kael and Lira stood on a high plateau, overlooking the scarred but calm landscape. The wind carried a faint warmth, brushing over their faces, carrying the scent of fresh earth. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, silence was their own.

Lira leaned against Kael, exhaustion etched into every line of her body. "It's… finally over," she whispered. "The seed… the fractures… gone."

Kael nodded, his hand holding hers tightly. "We survived everything it threw at us. Together. Nothing can break us now."

The Abyss, once a dark, pulsing presence aiding their survival, had receded into a calm glow, its energy lingering in the land, stabilizing the fractures permanently. Nature seemed to breathe again—slowly, carefully, but alive.

Thalen appeared nearby, his expression serene but proud. "You faced every trial, overcame every fracture, and destroyed the seed's true form. Not many could have endured what you have. The fractures will remain as reminders, but their threat is ended. Your bond, your trust, and your instincts were the keys to victory."

Kael glanced down at the plateau below. The fractures, though still jagged and dangerous, no longer moved on their own. Pools of clear water reflected the sky, patches of green beginning to reclaim the shattered land. "We've given it a second chance… maybe even a future."

Lira smiled faintly, her exhaustion tempered by relief. "A future together. No curses, no shadows… just us."

For the first time, they allowed themselves to sit in peace, letting the wind carry away the tension, the fear, and the endless vigilance that had defined their journey.

The fractured land would always bear the marks of the seed's power, but those marks were no longer prisons—they were reminders of resilience, strength, and love forged in the hardest fires.

Kael squeezed Lira's hand. "Whatever comes next… we face it the same way. Step by step, together."

Lira leaned her head against his shoulder. "Together. Always."

The sun broke through the clouds, golden light spilling across the fractured terrain. Shadows retreated, replaced by warmth and calm. Birds began to sing, faint but growing in confidence, heralding a new beginning.

The curse that had chosen them had ended, but the bond it forged—the bond of trust, instinct, and choice—remained unbroken, stronger than any force in the fractured world.

And for the first time in what felt like forever, Kael and Lira could truly breathe.
