Seraphina's Point Of View
Lucian turned off the jets with a soft click, and the sudden quiet filled the massive marble bathroom with a cozy, humid hush. Steam still curled lazily off the water's surface, wrapping the whole room in a soft, dreamlike haze that made everything feel suspended, unreal, like the outside world had simply dissolved.
He didn't even let my feet touch the cold marble floor. He stood up, smooth and effortless, lifting me out of the milky water like I weighed no more than a feather. A soft gasp left my lips as the cool air hit my damp skin, and I immediately buried my face into the warm nook of his neck, shivering slightly.
He smelled like sandalwood and something warmer underneath, something that felt distinctly like safety. I hadn't realized how badly I needed that feeling until it was already wrapped around me.
"Hold on, sweet girl," Lucian purred, carrying me over to the grand glass shower stall.
