"This isn't fair, brother," Azriel said, his voice low and threaded with dark amusement, his eyes glinting as he watched us from across the room. There was a stillness to him, a coiled patience that felt somehow more dangerous than impatience would have been.
"You're hoarding, brother." Azriel's voice dropped into a low, dangerous purr as he tilted his head, studying the scene before him like a man cataloging something he intended to claim. "Share."
Lucian groaned, his forehead pressing against mine, his breath uneven, as though he were fighting some private battle only he could see the shape of. "Fuck off," he muttered, but there was no heat in it… only a rough, aching tenderness that betrayed him, that told me this reluctance was as much about not wanting to let me go as it was about spiting his brother.
