"Then hand him over to the authorities," I said quickly, my breath hitching as his thumb continued that slow, devastating press against my pulse point. "Let the police take him, Azriel. He's broken. It's over."
Azriel tilted his head, his ice-blue eyes gleaming with a dark, wicked glint. "And what about my reward, princess?"
A sudden flush of heat rushed up my neck, burning straight into my cheeks. I pressed my back slightly flatter against the entryway wall, trying to maintain some semblance of composure while Mason and Rose's family hovered just feet away, oblivious to the war raging beneath my skin. My mind scrambled for footing, some scrap of dignity to cling to, but everything about him made rational thought feel like a luxury I could no longer afford.
"What reward?" I stammered, my voice squeaking slightly before I caught myself. "I've already said thank you! What else do you want me to say?"
