Seraphina's Point Of View
A sudden wave of relief washed over me, hot and thick, loosening the tension I'd been carrying in my shoulders for days. I hadn't realized how tightly I'd been holding myself until that moment, hadn't noticed how shallow my breathing had become. "Okay, Mama. That's all I wanted to hear." I took a breath, steadying myself before continuing, trying to regain some semblance of professional composure.
"I just... I called to check up on you because the office is dead quiet and these numbers are turning my brain into mush. But I am very busy now, I have to take these files up to the executive tier, so I'll go first."
