Seraphina stared at him for what felt like an eternity, her green eyes scanning his face, looking at the slight tightness around his jaw, the quiet sincerity in his posture. I watched her internal battle play out across her features… the corporate executive warring with the little girl who had always wondered about her father. The corporate executive vanished for a split second, replaced by a girl who didn't quite know what to do with a father's devotion.
She let out a long, dramatic sigh, rolling her eyes toward the sky, though I could see the unmistakable, subtle twitch of a smile trying to break through at the corners of her lips. "Okay... whatever. If you want to ruin your morning schedule and sit in the middle lane of the highway listening to local radio talk shows, be my guest." She shrugged, but her voice had lost its sharp edge. "But don't complain to me when your assistant calls you forty times about a missed memo."
