Even light, upon entering it, dissolved into nothingness, utterly devoured. The black hole resembled a ravenous Taotie, devouring everything in its path.
"Tsk tsk, as I suspected, she's after you," Hoggus muttered, his gaze constantly scanning Chen Chen.
"What did you say?" Chen Chen asked, puzzled by Hoggus's sudden mumbling.
"Boom!"
At that moment, another powerful soul fluctuation erupted, cutting off Chen Chen's question. The Mysterious Sorcerer, who had also been immersed in the Heartscape World, awakened. His legs, previously crossed in mid-air, now straightened and stood upright in the void. Without a word, he silently stared at Chen Chen and Hoggus.
After awakening, the Mysterious Sorcerer straightened his floating, cross-legged legs and stood upright in the void. He silently gazed at Chen Chen and Hoggus, his eyes brimming with an inexplicable meaning.
"Why is this guy staring at me again?" Feeling the mysterious sorcerer's strange gaze fixed on him, Chen Chen grew impatient. This weirdo seemed to have been targeting him since the beginning.
Although the black hood and magic concealed his true appearance, Chen Chen could sense a peculiar emotion emanating from the man—sometimes it felt like hatred, other times something far more subtle.
As he pondered this, a chilling thought struck him, one that sent shivers down his spine.
"Holy shit, could this guy be gay?!"
The sudden possibility made Chen Chen take an involuntary step back, his eyes narrowing suspiciously at the Mysterious Sorcerer who refused to reveal his face.
If the Ancient One were to witness this scene, she would likely die laughing. After all, Chen Chen could face god-tier powerhouses and monsters without hesitation, yet he was actually retreating from a sorcerer weaker than himself.
Studying the Mysterious Sorcerer more closely, Chen Chen suddenly noticed that the man's body, hidden beneath his cloak, was remarkably slender for a man. This observation only strengthened his suspicion—a man with a slender, almost feminine physique? That had to be some kind of master of disguise.
In an instant, their guard against the Mysterious Sorcerer rose sharply. They adopted a posture of intense vigilance, as if treating him like some rampaging beast, and barked, "I advise you to abandon your petty schemes. I won't play into your hands."
The Mysterious Sorcerer seemed utterly bewildered by Chen Chen's words. After staring at him for a moment longer, he averted his gaze and focused on the Mirrors of the Mind hovering above the heads of the others.
Seeing the sorcerer's attention shift, Chen Chen let out a slight mental sigh of relief. To be honest, he wasn't afraid of a direct confrontation, neither in terms of strength nor willpower. He was now confident that he could easily crush all the sorcerers present.
Yet, for some reason, this mysterious stranger evoked a strange, almost familiar sensation in him. This made Chen Chen feel deeply unsettled.
Shaking his head gently, Chen Chen dismissed the thought and turned his attention, along with the Mysterious Sorcerer Lan Yang, to the Mirror of the Mind. Both of them had already broken through their Heartscape Worlds, causing their respective Mirrors of the Mind to shatter. Three serene fragments of the Mirror of the Mind remained suspended in the air.
Focusing on Kazusa's side, the scene projected within her Mirror of the Mind had changed. The original image of "her friend Keiko being brutally murdered" had been replaced by a pitch-black night sky.
Moonlight spilled in silvery streams across the street, gradually revealing the darkness. The first thing that caught their eyes was the stark, eye-searing blood, flowing quietly and pooling in large puddles on the ground. Following the gaze, they saw countless corpses, countless limbs, countless heads with eyes wide in death.
Blood flowed and splattered from the countless severed arms, broken legs, and split skulls.
"Ah!" A piercing scream echoed from the mirror's surface.
In the pitch-black void, a cold gleam slashed out from a corner of the darkness. Like the arc of a crescent moon, the line of light solidified in the void, visible to the naked eye. As the flash faded, a man in black was split in two, his upper and lower halves falling separately to the ground.
Under the moonlight, the blade's true form was revealed: a tip dripping with crimson liquid. The contrast of red and silver exuded a seductive, sinister beauty. The soft silver glow of the moon caressed the blade, tracing its path upward to reveal the blade, the hilt.
A greatsword.
By its form, it was undeniably a greatsword. The attack had clearly been launched by this weapon.
The blade trembled slightly, and only then did the *shing* sound of its passage echo through the air.
*Clack, clack, clack.* The figure who had wielded the blade gradually emerged from the darkness. Moonlight bathed her form, revealing her willowy curves and captivating silhouette. The silver glow illuminated her long, jet-black hair, which cascaded down to her waist like a veil of silver.
It was a pity that on Kazusa's exquisite and beautiful face, her narrow, phoenix-like eyes, which had once held a cool, noble aura, now seemed lost and unfocused.
With another sweep of her blade, another figure fell at the boundary between darkness and silver light.
"Could this still be her Inner Demon?" Chen Chen's gaze fixed on the Mirror of the Mind hovering above Kazusa's head. He understood that Kazusa's past, particularly the incident with Keiko, had left her with a lingering obsession that had never faded.
The root of this lay in her upbringing. Having never been exposed to the true darkness faced by the lower classes, she had grown up like a princess, with an idealized view of the world. Even the assassination attempts by other clans in her childhood had been secretly handled by the Kanzuki Clan and the Abe Clan, while her family had taken great care in her education, ensuring she grew up in a healthy environment.
Though she faced considerable pressure in her cultivation and studies, her journey had been relatively smooth.
But when she finally gained the power to protect herself, her closest friend was killed by the dark side of society without her knowledge. This had been a devastating blow to Kazusa.
