Chapter 122 - Chapter 122: Harry and Hermione's First Meeting

In the early morning, Adelaide and Hermione were awakened by the aroma of grilled fish.

They opened their eyes almost at the same time, then quickly sat up, washed, dressed, and began packing their luggage.

The suitcase Edward had given Adelaide, which was enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm, proved to be immensely useful; no matter how many items there were, they could be easily packed inside without looking crowded.

Adelaide folded her clothes neatly and placed them in a corner of the trunk; Hermione, meanwhile, carefully organized Adelaide's books and school supplies, ensuring nothing important was left behind—since Adelaide and Hermione would be returning to Dumbledores Old House in Godrics Hollow tonight, Adelaide had taken all her personal belongings from Hogwarts back from No. 7 Zijing Road early the morning before last.

After packing, they went to the living room and had a simple breakfast of bread and grilled fish.

When they finished their meal, Adelaide and Hermione said goodbye to Mr. Weasley and walked toward the beach together. They admired the beautiful sunrise over the sea while enthusiastically searching for shells.

Before long, the small boat outside the rock hut started up. As it drew closer, Adelaide could clearly see Hagrid huddled on the boat and Harry, who looked very excited.

When the boat docked, Hagrid jumped off first and then carefully helped Harry disembark.

To prevent The Dursley Family from being stranded on the rock because they couldn't swim, Adelaide cast the Levitation Charm again to return the boat to its original position.

Harry stared wide-eyed at Adelaide's spellcasting, his heart filled with surprise and envy.

The girl before him, with her beautiful blonde hair, looked to be about his age, yet she could already master and perform magic so skillfully. This felt incredibly novel and desirable to Harry, who had always lived in the Muggle World.

Noticing the way Harry was looking at Adelaide, Hermione inconspicuously stepped forward to block Harry's view.

The thick-skinned Hagrid didn't notice Hermione's subtle movement. He smiled and introduced her to Harry: "This is Adelaide Grindelwald, she's Dumbledore's ward; the little girl standing next to her grew up in the Muggle World just like you, her name is... er, Hermes, I think?"

Hermione spoke up to correct him: "It's Hermione. Hello Harry, I'm Hermione Granger, both my parents are dentists. It's nice to meet you."

Due to long-term oppression and bullying by his cousin Dudley, poor Harry had almost no chance to interact with girls his own age in his previous life.

When Hermione took the initiative to speak to him, Harry couldn't help but feel a surge of mixed excitement and nervousness.

He responded hurriedly, "Hello, Hermione! I'm Harry Potter. I grew up in my uncle's house; my uncle is a director at Grunnings, a drill company."

At Adelaide's suggestion, they changed from standing and chatting to chatting while walking.

At first, Harry was a bit reserved, but fortunately, the three of them were close in age and had all grown up in the Muggle World. They had many common topics, and it didn't take long for them to become acquainted.

They talked and laughed as they crossed the small seaside town and headed toward the station.

After entering the city, the tall Hagrid was as eye-catching as a moving hill. Coupled with his intense curiosity, he would occasionally peer at the Muggles' novel gadgets and ask questions, successfully attracting the curious gazes of passersby.

Harry secretly felt lucky that he had Hermione and Adelaide with him—if only he and Hagrid were the focus of attention, he would have been so embarrassed; but now, most of the passersby's attention was focused on the tall Hagrid and the striking Adelaide.

Adelaide had long since become accustomed to the attention of others. She had been the center of attention since she started elementary school; especially after enrolling in Hogwarts last year, she had made a name for herself with her talent and became a prominent figure at Hogwarts.

The party of four hurried to the station. Although it was a workday, the area around the train station was still bustling and noisy with people coming and going.

Hagrid was unfamiliar with Muggle currency, so the arduous task of buying tickets fell to Adelaide.

She bought a total of five tickets at the ticket window—the reason for buying an extra one was that Hagrid's massive frame needed two seats to be comfortable.

After boarding, they found facing seats for three. Hagrid sat next to Harry, while Adelaide and Hermione sat opposite them.

Once seated, Hagrid pulled a bundle of pale yellow fabric from his bottomless pockets and began to knit as if no one else were there.

Harry and Hermione weren't distracted by Hagrid's actions like the others; instead, they turned their attention to the Hogwarts acceptance letters in their hands and began to study them seriously, checking the various items needed for school. Adelaide rested her head on Hermione's shoulder, intending to nap for a while.

After browsing the list, Hermione said, "Except for this book, 'The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection,' the other textbooks are almost the same as last year's."

Hermione had spent the past few days at No. 7 Zijing Road skimming through Adelaide's textbooks from last year, so she had a general idea of what she would be studying this year.

Adelaide responded lazily, "There's nothing strange about that. The Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher changes every year, and every teacher has a different teaching style, so the corresponding textbooks naturally have to change with them."

Hearing this explanation, Harry couldn't help but frown. In his impression, being a teacher should be a relatively stable profession. He asked with a face full of confusion, "But... why does this class change teachers every year? Is there no permanent teacher who can teach long-term?"

Adelaide raised her eyebrows, a mischievous glint flashing in her eyes.

She didn't tell Harry and Hermione about the curse directly, but instead began to explain in a subtle way:

"That's because the teachers in charge of this course encounter some unexpected accidents every year—they're either injured or unfortunately pass away, and they can't continue teaching."

"Actually, it's not hard to understand. After all, the Dark Arts themselves are the most dangerous field of study in the Wizarding World, so the teachers responsible for teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts are naturally more prone to accidental injuries than teachers of other subjects."

Harry and Hermione nodded as if they had suddenly seen the light; they had both been fooled by Adelaide.
