"Shkkkkk....." The basilisk slowly crept towards Jaster, its eyes cold and deadly. Jaster stepped back a bit, while still holding the mirror. His hand shaking as his body sweated profusely.
"Why....Isn't it working....?" His voice wavered. Jaster kept stepping back, until he didn't realize he was close to the fire wall, and then—
"ARGH!" His back got torched by the fire. Jaster's body jerked violently as the flames scorched his back. He staggered forward, nearly losing his balance.
He lost his grip on the mirror and it fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. He looked at it while panting heavily, his chest rising and falling rapidly.
"Oh God...." He saw the snake creeping towards him. There was nowhere to go. He couldn't escape from the fire ring, and now Jaster was stuck with the snake.
"Shkkkkkk...." The basilisk slithered towards him, its eyes looking down at the small human. Jaster, though, was still looking at the ground, refusing to be crystallized by the Azure snake.
