Chapter 53 - Giant Hawks vs Westminster F.C. (2)

The Giant Hawks initiated the game's restart by playing defensively before advancing up the field. Their strategy involved quick, brief, and precise passes. With each youth closing in to receive these passes when Westminster youth came in to mark the Giant Hawks. The Giant Hawks shifted into high passes, the ball back to the defenders, this was to lure in the Westminster youth. The Giant Hawks don't have any quick youth players, but they do have one player who's a skill shooter. His teammates recognized the attacking midfielder, a youth player, for his powerful long shots.

Additionally, the youngster failed to stand out, blending in with the rest of the youth players. The game's dynamic shifted considerably once Winston, Oswin, and the third attacking midfielder fell victim to a trick. The Giant Hawks built up and started sharpening their low passes. Only the whooshing sound could be heard as the ball spun rapidly toward its intended target. As the passes advanced from the midfield to the strikers, their movement created a situation where the attacking midfielder was effectively playing as a forward because of the way the play unfolded.

The Giant Hawks striker dribbled between two Westminster youths and curved passed the ball to the attacking midfielder who was now cutting behind the defenders, nearly being offside. One of Westminster's defender used a well-placed chip to send the ball out to the far flank. Giant Hawks attacking midfielder chased the ball and dribbled and trigger ran the ball at the edge of the box. As he propelled the ball with his less dominant outer foot, its trajectory ascended in a high, curved arc, leaving the Westminster goalie surprised by its unexpected path. The ball ricocheted inside the goalpost and hit the back of the goalkeeper's head.

Thwack!

After a successful play, the Giant Hawks players collectively sprinted to the corner of the field in celebration, and in the midst of their joy, one player demonstratively shook his head. As Winston rapidly returned to his designated spot, a peculiar sensation, like a rippling wave, emanated from the top of his head and coursed all the way down to his feet. It spread across the field for a few minutes. The entire process made Winston dizzy, he shook his head and turned and looked at the opposite team. He called Oswin and said, "Be careful, I think we are being targeted, oh, by the way, the guy who just scored is the main guy,"

Oswin looked at the Giant Hawks who were still celebrating, "you sure, how did you know?"

"Trust me, they might injure one of us."

Oswin's gaze darkened—he rubbed his chin and said, narrowing his eyes, "We'll see about that. Come on, let's kick off again."

"Okay,"

Winston, still looking at the Giant Hawks, squinted his eyes as if he wanted to see something. What Winston felt was one of his awakenings; what happened to him was a glimpse. Winston's eyes perceived the entire field, and the glimpse also showed the attacking midfielder as the playmaker of the Giant Hawks. And then being targets was just a hunch Winston had, he wasn't entirely sure. But he needed to be vigilant.

Nevertheless, with the clock now indicating sixty minutes, the game recommenced, and after briefly observing the scoreboard, his attention was redirected towards the opposing team's goalpost. When the whistle blew, Winston passed the ball back to the defenders who passed among each periodically glancing over at their team watching who was free. Oswin came in and yelled for the ball, he dribbled past the youth player without slowing down. He elastico on the flank. When Oswin occupied the winger position, his exceptional dribbling skills made him an unstoppable force on the field.

Looking up, Oswin passed the ball to Winston, who was in the middle of the field. Instead of kicking the ball into a volley, Winston trapped the ball and punted it from 40 meters. Under his breath, "Spear" the ball zig zag in a smooth "S" shape. Rooted to the spot, the goalie was stunned by the ball's spin into the top corner, unable to decide where to jump.

The game was now tied, with roaring fans anticipating a fierce battle as both teams proved to be evenly matched. None of them backed down, as if they were saying, you can do that, we can also do that too. No one on the field could believe Winston's kick; the ball's motion was so extraordinary, as if it possessed sentience or was under external manipulation. Even his teammate asked whether Dumi taught him that move. Even Oswin, who saw the move for the first time when they trained, was also taken aback. Winston's strategy for this move involved placing the ball immovably and then positioning himself for the kick. Of course, Oswin tried the move, and it only entered the goal one time. The rest of the time the ball was flying over the goalpost. Winston was also surprised by how the ball moved the "S" shape exactly like when he was playing with Maximilian, minus the destructive power.

Giant Hawks restarted the game, as if the goal Winston had just scored fueled his hunger. Winston quickly ran to the Giant Hawks player who had possession of the ball. His eyes sharpened for a moment, allowing him to discern the Giant Hawks player's movements and intended pass recipient. After intercepting the ball, he darted between the midfielders as he dribbled toward the defense. His ears became sharp, he heard the tired breath of players in front of him and behind him. Winston didn't panic he exhaled and in a fast pace he Mcgeady spin into the left side of the flank with a smooth flick over the left back he dribbled over the edge of the box and then inside relaxing his shoulder kicked the ball between the goalie's legs.

Everyone in the dugout was shocked and also impressed by how Winston took on the entire team by himself. He had excellent control over his speed, and his body control was clearly defined. His ball control was comparable to that of senior league players, and some players even rubbed their eyes when he dashed between them. He was so agile it was like the air passed through the youth. The coach questioned if the boy injured weeks ago was the same one who acted calmly under pressure and fit into a confined area. When he came to check on Winston's condition when he was in a coma, he looked like his football career was over. They were so injured, the broken bones he had broken, the doctors said he would never play football other than a miracle cured him. But now he was watching that same boy score goals consecutively, with such flair—one wouldn't believe Winston had been injured a couple of weeks ago just by looking at him.

"Bro, what the heck was that?" Oswin said, piggybacking on Winston's back, "You dribble through those players like a surfer. Man now I am pumped,"

"I was off a bit though, I should have dribbled more in the center. One defender has weak feet,"

Oswin startled and glanced at the Giant Hawks, he didn't notice a defender Winston was talking. "Which one bro, I don't see him,"

The one on the left, Winston said, walking back to his position. With eighty minutes played, the Giant Hawks were attempting to secure victory, but Westminster's defense remained resolute. Until it was ninety minutes.

Fweerrret! Fweerrret! Fweerrret!

On the end of the stands in the VIP section, two black suits man One blew smoke, and the other fixed his glasses and sighed, "So what do you think, is he one of the testers?"

The man in the black suit studied Winston intently, his face unreadable. He exhaled more smoke and said, "Yes, for someone who was in a coma a couple week ago. Can now sprint at this speed, but why is he not on the list of testers?"

"Yeah, it is weird. He has three games to play. Until the season concludes, do you think he will use the pill until then?"

"He would, I mean he would want to stand out to get attention from the senior club scouts,"

"Too bad there are no scouts this time around,"

Inhaling and exhaling smoke, "Mmm, we are lucky that the Federation hasn't made an announcement yet,"

"I can't wait to see what he has for us next, C'mon I am buying."

"That's what you said last time,"

"What can I say, there was a beautiful babe at the bar, and he was checking me out,"
