Chapter 19 - [Other POV] Sight On Normality

[???]:" Mom, Dad ! We're going to be late if you keep taking your time like that !"

[Dad???]:"No need to panic, you'll see those "singers". An extra minute or two here won't kill you for all I know." The voice rang once more, talking to someone else. "Honey, can you speed up a bit, I need to go to the bathroom."

The girl was fuming.

After all, she had been waiting an entire month for that event. She had forced herself to focus in school even when some topics were clearly made to make them practice their ability to resist the urge to fall asleep.

Actually, it was surely the sole root of discomfort she had for that bet: Getting high grades in every subject for a whole trimester.

Which wasn't that hard since she was above average just by doing the bare minimum. Why force things when you can get away with half the effort ? All her friends are doing the same things and she wasn't an exception.

Until that bet.

The girl was waiting at the doorstep of her house, she was starting to think that all that wouldn't be worth it if she can't even get ten meters away from this place.

Forcing herself to double check her homework would have been in vain and she wouldn't allow it to happen.

[Girl]:" Come on, they have toilets there too ! The theater is known for being the best of the best. If even the Valor clan is a regular there, you'll be sure that they will be equipped. So can we pleasssee go now ? I've been waiting in front of the PTV for fifteen minutes !"

That month had a bad impact on her, because now, when she had a little free time, her mind would turn itself into school mode. Revising lesson, popping little improvised questions to keep her sharp enough.

Even now, she was about to see Night & Gale for the first time of her life and she was catching herself thinking the last time she had held a blade.

It was a few days prior to this never-ending delay.

The teacher had told her that she was quite a natural with a sword in her hand. He also told her that she was far from perfect but she didn't really listen after the first compliment.

The sword wasn't really something she liked using.

And after all, it would be useless for her since only those chosen by the Nightmare Spell can fight with those kinds of weapons. And she knew that she wouldn't be chosen.

After all, no one in her family had force to pass their First Nightmare.

Why would she be the first ?

She had planned to be something cool.A job that surprises people when talked about but without a lot of responsibility. She despises that.

She was lucky and not stupid enough to abuse it.

All she asks is a good job, to have her family, to be in good health and to find a boyfriend later. Okay, maybe she was asking for too much. She can remove good health from that list. After all, with a good job, she would have access to every good doctor.

She was smart, wasn't she ?

Not too little, not too much. A job, her family, and a boyfriend.

Yeah, that sounded right.

The girl was about to scream one more time but to her greatest pleasure, her two parents were coming in her direction. They looked at her, smiling as if she was acting like a child. She was eight, not some new born.

[Mom]:"You can stop pacing up and down, love. We're here."

All three finally moved toward the PTV…only for the dad to stop. Tapping around his pocket as if he were looking for something. The panic on his face was a sign of bad news.

[Dad]:"I feel like I'm forgetting something"

She knew what was coming but it was too late.

[Dad]:" I remember ! I forgot to tell you how much I love you ! Come here, my sweet little princess !"

Forced into a hug she didn't want, her cry for help was only met with a laugh from her mother.

[Mom]:"C'mon love, you know that she had been waiting for us for a little while now. A bit more and she might not talk to you for a month."

[Dad]:"My bad, my bad. Sorry Cassia. Let's go see those little singers of yours, you deserve it."

And with that, the blond girl came to have her best night of the years to come as a precious memory was made.
