Chapter 70 - | Bloodline

"May I ask why do they include the story of Ruth in the bible?" Asked Matthew. Ruth quickly looked at him then put her hand on her chest. "I-I mean no offense!" Said Matthew, making Ruth chuckle. "Don't worry. None taken." Said Ruth with a smile.

"Because of the bloodline," answered Boaz to Matthew's question. "Yes!" said Ruth happily as she held Boaz's hand. "Lil' Jay, please do the honor," said Ruth to James as she quickly looked at him with a smile. "When Ruth bore a child to Boaz, the Bible said that Naomi had a son. That son is named Obed. Then a genealogy was listed at the end of the last chapter," James said and I nodded in response.

"Beginning from the family line of Perez, who is one of the sons of Judah. Perez is the father of Hezron,

Hezron is the father of Ram,

Ram is the father of Amminadab,

Amminadab is the father of Nahshon,

Nahshon is the father of Salmon,

Salmon is the father of Boaz.

Then Boaz's son is named Obed,

Obed is the father of Jesse,

Jesse is the father of David.

The David who will soon be king of Israel after king Saul." Continued James. I opened my mouth in amazement.

"So that's why," said Matthew. "I thought you said that you already read the Gospel of St. Matthew?" Asked Jude while looking at Matthew. I looked at Matthew and saw him nod. "I did but it seems like it slipped my mind," answered Matthew. "Try rereading the 1st chapter of it," said James.

"Aren't you too young to be drinking wine?" Asked Boaz, making us look at him and saw him looking at John who just sipped wine. "Define young, sir," said John. I tightened my lips to avoid laughing. "Oh, come on now, my love. I bet he's old enough to be drinking that," said Ruth as she stood up from her seat.

Ruth then looked at each one of us, "Thank you so much for listening to us and coming to our wedding despite the last minute invite to you all," thanked Ruth with a smile then Boaz stood up as well. "It is such an honor to be able to meet you all. And please tell Thomas that I'll be giving him my contact later," said Boaz with a smile. I nodded in response. "We're glad to meet you both as well," I replied.

"Thank you so much for your time and company," Matthew.

"Enjoy the rest of the party, cous, Boaz," Jude.

"I'll enjoy the wine for the both of you!" John.

"Congratulations on your wedding again!" James. And the bride and groom walked away from our table with a smile on both their lips.
