Another day has come. I put on my bear printed apron and head to the kitchen. It's still early in the morning but I can already see people outside my fences. It's good that my barrier not only prevents intruders from getting inside it, it also provides soundproof effect to the area within it if I will it.
Maybe Wyse will like some boiled eggs and bananas for breakfast. Since I still have bread leftover from yesterday, we'll also have that.

"I called you then but you teleported. And now, we're busy with the deadline but you barged in here." He said.

I teleported back before he could say a fucking thing.
My baby is still sleeping peacefully. Although, I gotta hurry and prepare food now. It's already seven in the morning.
In a minute, I'm already boiling eggs and bananas. While doing so, I also prepared the bread, coffees and milk for Wyse.

(Reporter) 'We are now live where a smaller gate has appeared in the middle of Rufus Downtown Square. With the gate running on countdown starting from 10 minutes as witnesses stated, it's now on seven minutes left. The people are being evacuated now from the area by the traffic enforcers and a few officers that are currently present. The police and the army are also on the way and-'

"Aren't you going there?" Vince asked.
"What are you- are you crazy?!" Why should I go out there? I'm not a hero or anything grand like that!
"But Maria, you have the power to protect. If that ain't heroic enough..then I don't know what is." He crosses his hands on Wyse.

(Reporter) 'The police and army are now doing a formation with a shield....running at four minutes..'
"Come on, Maria. I'll be here with Wyse." Vince said softly.
(Reporter) 'We are now at two minutes on clock..'

Good thing I was testing out my skills yesterday. The book only has a couple of skills written, but I'll get by.. I guess.

For not even a second, the scene in front of me has changed completely to the place of my command.
The gate which looks like a regular one in black iron appearance releases a very dark red aura in a form of flame surrounding it.
The countdown on top of it shows a thirty seconds time.
"Who is that?!" A police said.
"Please step out civilian." Another megaphoned even.
"She just appeared there!"
"Please step out, it's dangerous!"
The time goes near, I feel my blood rushing..

The area encircling me and the gate is now locked up with my transparent water barrier in just a raise of a hand. Only a few inches away from the police and army around the barrier.

I clutch my scythe tightly. I'm not ready for this but if it's for my son, I'll do anything.
"Hey, isn't she one of those who came to the garden?"

A loud sound which resembles a bell being struck once created a short, slight earthquake.
Everyone covered their ears from the loud sound.
Once it subsided.. the smaller gate opened abruptly, causing another loud sound like a very rusty cellar door finally opened after a few years. Only darkness can be seen from the opened gate.
Until,
A feet stepped out from the darkness. Another feet to another one.
"What? But they look like humans." A policeman said.
Yes, except you can see the dark veins clearly like they're on the surface of their skin. The fat in their body doesn't look normal too. They remind me of that enemy from an old online game I've played before. Like Boomer. Dark green goo flows from their mouth and there's a pair of horns on their forehead. Some already grown a bit, some still have them budding on.
Disgusting..
I don't know what else to do but if I wait any longer, this won't end well for me.
A few more appeared from the gate. There's five of them now. They move a bit slow so that's my advantage.
I need to move my ass now!

I know I've done unforgivable dirty work before. I've slain countless criminals and did numerous tasks unbefitting a young girl. Striving to live another day by ending other's.

I swung my body up. This isn't the first time in my life I'll be doing something absurd like terminating. I'm not new to this business.
A hand slowly reached out to me.

"RAAAGGGHHH!!" the demon screamed. I absolutely have no idea how to kill them but maybe like in the movies, I need to cut their heads as if they're zombies. Since they look like one anyway?
I jumped back and boosted to the demon's back. I sliced through its nape with force. A head came falling down after that. The rest of the body falls down.
The remains were quickly engulfed by a sudden flame and turned into ashes that's carried away by the wind.
"So, that's how I eliminate you all." I rushed and do the same things I did to the first one.
One by one, their heads fall and turn to ashes.
Another group of them came out of the gate just when I'm about to finish the last demon.
The same set came out.
They're all so big and all the gymnastics is tiring me out.
I can handle this!

What? Wait.. their faces turn red. The color scattered to the whole of their body. They suddenly look angry after laying eyes on their dead comrades.
"AARRGGHHH!!" not only did they turn red, they're also getting a bit bigger. Like a balloon being inflated.
I made a short jump forward to test the waters. A hand came reaching out again. This time, it's a bit faster than the guys before but still too slow even for a normal human. I quickly swing my scythe left and right.

I'm almost done when I smell a familiar scent close by.
Leo is here.
I can't afford to lose concentration now, it might cost me my life. So, I'll entertain that bastard later.

Cancer is too stingy. Wait, what's her name again? We don't have to call each other by our signs, do we? Why leave me here when she's the one barging in wearing her cute bear apron? She seems awkwardly avoiding my gaze while talking. Did she finally realized how hot I am?
Anyway, she looks pissed before she left.

The police encircles the barrier but their faces reflects the fear and anxiety of seeing something they only see in movies.
Meanwhile, Cancer looks so sexy and pretty dancing with her blood drenched scythe. Her eyes glowing red like she owns hell inside them herself. Leaving the red confettis and mushroom heads behind her every stride. As she lands in the middle of the bodies, the blood that dances around her slowly matches the burning corpses that rapidly turned to ashes. Look at her go. She's not blessed to be the Cancer if she's not a real deal soldier.
Shit I'm so proud of her.
She might not noticed it too but her gigantic sign is glowing up on the sky. Maybe it's announcing her presence or something.
Not another minute passed and the door also turned to ashes when the last head hit the ground.
But her sign glows brighter as the aura around her intensifies. Her stance looks like she's preparing for another round of demons when the door is already gone.
What on earth is she doing?
"I'll go and check on her." An officer said.
"I'll handle this" I pat his fragile shoulder and went inside the barrier. I thought it will reject me but maybe it runs on certain conditions? At least that's what I know from playing some online games.
"Hey, Cancer-" she quickly swings my way might be perceiving that I'm an enemy.
"AXE!" I blocked her attack in a matter of second. Holy crap! That was close. Yes, no regular man can calm this raging power without their heads in place.
Cancer's glowing eyes rapidly tuned down.
"Leo?" She's finally back to normal.
What're these red crystals at her feet?
Anyway, now both our signs are visible in the sky. Slowly fading as the weapons we wield.
"You owe me a meal, remember?"
She sighed.
"Y-you...you are..!" A soldier stutters pointing at us.
"Talk straight pal." I know right? I'm sexiness itself.
"You are..."
"Miss Cancer, we thank you for protecting this place." The soldiers' commander salutes to her as the other soldiers and officers followed.
"I protected the people. Not the place." She responded nonchalantly.
"WYSE!" We both teleported after she grabbed my arm.
It was only for a short period of time but I can feel her rough hands on my skin. They're calloused for a reason, but I like it.
