Chapter 39 - Whirlpool Empire cap 39

The elders knew that most of the rebel elements in the country were in the army.

As one of the few institutions in the country whose members can legally learn and use Ninjutsu, the military is the strongest institution in the country.

Therefore, it is the most popular choice among young people leaving schools across the country.

Logically, if some people feel dissatisfied with the patriarch and wish to overthrow him, they will definitely have to take control of the army.

Unfortunately for these people, the army was firmly under the control of the patriarch.

Besides the second elder leading the army, the patriarch had many loyal and powerful subordinates in the army in high positions and ready to take the place of the second elder if anything were to happen to him.

Therefore, the patriarch would never lose control of such an important organization in the country, no matter how hard they tried.

The elders knew this and were not worried.

But they still believe they must punish these rebels, and the attack by a few tailed beasts was a great opportunity.

Unfortunately for the elders, the patriarch rejected this plan because it would result in unnecessary casualties. However, these casualties would still occur during the remainder of the war.

"If the patriarch wants it that way, so it will be," said the first elder, and none of the others objected.

"Then let's begin to prepare," said the second elder.

"The seventh elder will be in charge of accelerating the delivery of the food needed for the next war, and the ninth elder must also be ready for the construction of the necessary infrastructure in the newly conquered lands."

"The Third Elder and the Fourth Elder have already established an organization to maintain order and a legal framework that every citizen in our new lands must follow."

"Therefore, the Fifth and Sixth Elders can now create a health and education system."

The aforementioned elders nodded in agreement, and soon the meeting ended.

While the 3 great villages focused on studying and improving the seals that contained the tailed beasts within their Jinchuriki and the Daimyo recruited a large number of people into their armies while building temples and expanding the faith of the gods alongside the monks, the world suffered the first consequences of a war.

Food prices increased and many had to resort to banditry to bring something home, increasing misery by harming others who were their victims.

But contrary to what people thought, the war did not continue at that time.

Instead, it paused while the Uzumaki remained in the 3 cities they took and the Daimyo and villages did not attack to recover the cities.

The Daimyo and the villages knew that they could not easily defeat the Uzumaki clan even if they could break through their barriers.

Therefore, they concentrated on gathering resources and preparing their soldiers.

Of course, the Daimyo and village leaders declared that the Uzumaki did not dare to leave their hiding places for fear of facing the power of the great countries and villages.

While others quietly said that with Gin Uzumaki, the Uzumaki would have no fear.

Rather, they should be afraid that the Ninja God will appear.

But because they were afraid, they didn't say anything out loud.

Of course, as time passed and the Uzumaki did nothing but stay behind the barriers in the 3 cities they conquered, the arrogant statements of the 3 great countries and villages increased and even the population began to believe it and the number of people who joined the recruitment of the 3 great countries increased every day under the promise of good pay and food for their families.

And while everyone thought things would continue like this… things changed.

In the vicinity of the 3 cities captured by the Uzumaki clan in the 3 countries, there were many ninjas and mercenaries who guarded the barriers that covered the 3 cities with the aim of reporting any changes in them.

Up until now nothing had changed and they were bored at this point.

All day, every day, nothing suspicious had appeared to be reported to their superiors, so many at this point had become confident that nothing would change and even fell asleep.

But to the surprise of the few who were paying attention, the barrier that protected and hid what was happening inside these cities began to clear.

The few lookouts who noticed the changes quickly became alert, and their expressions changed when they saw large numbers of people marching orderly out of each city.

At first there were hundreds, and little by little that number increased to thousands in a matter of minutes.

Regaining their composure, they quickly began writing on parchment before sending the message via summoning animals or through messenger birds if they did not have a summoning animal.

Meanwhile, as the Uzumaki clan armies passed through the translucent barriers, as if they weren't there, the sound of their footsteps alarmed the hidden animals and woke the sleeping sentries.

They immediately realized the situation and began writing their own messages before sending them.

And just like the lookouts who had sent their messages first, they turned around and immediately walked away from the place.

The Uzumaki clan had finally emerged from their confines and in great numbers, so they were obviously going to continue their campaign of conquest on the continent.

Therefore, they had to run if they didn't want to be the first to be killed by the invading army.

Of course, the Uzumaki clan army had long known the positions of these enemy lookouts, but they did not capture them because it was unnecessary.

The Uzumaki clan army would march in an orderly fashion toward the next city, and no one would stop them.

The Uzumaki clan's sudden move took everyone by surprise.

Since the Uzumaki clan did not continue their war of conquest at first, they thought they did not have the necessary strength to continue.

Although Gin Uzumaki was powerful, they thought he would stay to protect his country, and the rest of the Uzumaki clan did not have the necessary numbers to protect their country and continue conquering more cities.

But it seems they were wrong, since the numbers of the Uzumaki clan armies could be counted at 5,000 heads each.

They immediately got to work and activated the plans they had devised.

200 kilometers from the city of Kaminarioka, a samurai army of 1000 people waited nervously while watching the enemy army.

"Sir!" shouted a young samurai running towards a general.

"The enemy army is approaching"

"They'll be in our line of sight in 20 minutes," the young man said, and the general nodded.

"Are the explosive tags ready?" the general asked, and another samurai beside him nodded.

"Yeah"

"Whenever I give the order, the entire designated area, about 1 square kilometer, will explode," said the second samurai.

With the news confirmed, the general smiled contentedly.

With a possible invasion by the Uzumaki army starting from the city of Sakai, plans had been made to contain the enemy, and this was just one of them.

As the closest city to Sakai City, Kaminarioka Oka City was suspected to be the next most likely target, and numerous traps were placed along the path between the two cities.

This booby trap was only the first.

The reason there were 1000 samurai waiting here was to take advantage of the opportunity if the Uzumaki army was wounded.

If the Uzumaki army was fatally wounded, these samurai would immediately charge to kill them all. If not, they had orders to retreat and join the next squadron, while simultaneously drawing the Uzumaki army away.

If the Uzumaki army wanted to withdraw, they would harass them as well.

Time passed and soon they saw the Uzumaki army in sight.

But instead of continuing, the enemy stopped, and soon the general received word that they were resting.

The general hesitated for a moment.

Now that the enemy was tired after traveling a long distance to get here, it was a good opportunity to attack them while they were tired.

But they are only 1,000 people, a fifth of the enemy army, so it would be a bloody battle.

And since there was already a plan in place, it was unnecessary to take this risk.

"Wait," the general ordered.

In addition to ordering them to prepare, the general made it clear that they should not attack.

Little by little, time passed until finally the enemy army seemed ready to move.

¡BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Suddenly, the samurai were taken aback by the sudden explosion, and the general cursed as he wondered why the hell the explosive tags had been activated earlier.
