Adelaide, whose progress had been too smooth, had already forgotten her initial caution and concerns. Her mind was filled with only one thought: since it was all an experiment anyway and she had already successfully completed the test of the first rune, why not take the momentum to try the second rune Professor Bubbling had given her a few days ago as well?
So, she crouched down and extended her wand, sketching a complex and mysterious symbol on the hard ground with extreme speed. The lines of this symbol interlaced and flickered with a faint light; it was the Ancient Runes for 'Reproduction.'
As the final stroke fell, Adelaide took a deep breath, focused her mind, and gathered her magic. She murmured incantations, directing the newly drawn symbol like a nimble sprite to quickly attach itself to the thick vine in front of her.
The moment the symbol touched the vine, an amazing scene occurred—the vine, which had been baring its fangs and claws and constantly launching attacks, suddenly froze as if a Body-Bind Curse had been cast on it. A few seconds later, the vine began to grow frantically at a speed visible to the naked eye, and many pods of various shapes began to grow on it.
Some of these pods were round and cute, like translucent pearls; some were long and slender, just like crescent moons; and others presented irregular curved shapes, like works of art carved by nature's uncanny workmanship.
As time passed, these pods split open one after another, bursting with full seeds. As soon as these seeds touched the ground, they seemed to gain the power of life, quickly taking root and sprouting. In the blink of an eye, they grew into new magic beans plants.
Before long, the open space near the Shrieking Shack was filled with pink magic beans vines, making the two opposing sides feel as if they were in a pink forest. The entire scene was magnificent and breathtaking.
Sss—
Adelaide's expression instantly became somewhat unnatural. A faint blush crept onto her cheeks, and a hint of imperceptible embarrassment revealed itself in her eyes. Clearly, even she hadn't expected things to spiral so far out of control.
This was bad; she had only learned 'Growth' and 'Reproduction', but hadn't yet learned 'Termination' or 'Death'!
Standing to the side, Headmaster Dumbledore also watched the frantically spreading magic beans vines with a face full of surprise. His wise and deep eyes were filled with disbelief.
Who would have thought these mutated magic beans would possess such astonishing reproductive capabilities!
In just ten short seconds, a tiny magic beans seed could quickly grow into a complete plant. What was even more staggering was that the newly grown offspring immediately reproduced as quickly as rabbits, eagerly blooming flowers and bearing full pods, then giving birth to new seeds in the blink of an eye.
And so it cycled. Before long, these mutated magic beans, like a surging tide, swept through more than half of Hogsmeade with unstoppable momentum.
Fortunately, once these magic beans vines were activated with the Ancient Runes representing 'Reproduction', they automatically shifted their focus to defense and no longer actively launched attacks on the living creatures around them.
But even so, the densely interwoven magic beans vines, covered in sharp thorns and objects resembling venomous tentacula, still plunged all of Hogsmeade into a state of panic.
"My God, what on earth is this?" a terrified scream came from the crowd.
"Don't touch those vines! The spikes on them are exactly like venomous tentacula; they might be highly poisonous!"
Another voice warned with a tremble.
For a moment, people fled in panic. The originally peaceful and tranquil Hogsmeade was now in utter chaos.
Hogsmeade had fallen, but it wasn't the Death Eaters' doing.
Those twenty-one Death Eaters who were tightly bound by the magic beans vines and had fainted from the poison had now become insignificant.
At the moment, the primary task facing Dumbledore and the others had shifted from the fierce confrontation with the Death Eaters to exercising effective control over the out-of-control mutated magic beans.
Around them, the Wizengamot members, under Amandine's unified command, worked together to cast the spell "Finite Incantatem"—but this seemingly powerful counter-spell had no effect on the magic beans in their state of frantic proliferation. The way magic operated in Ancient Runes was completely different from ordinary spells, so the counter-spell lost its efficacy.
In this atmosphere of chaos and tension, only Dumbledore remained calm. He quickly crouched down and used his wand to write a passage of ancient Ancient Runes characters on the ground. Then, with a sudden wave of his wand, a brilliant and dazzling golden light began to expand rapidly along the strokes of the characters.
In the blink of an eye, these characters had expanded to cover the entire ground of Hogsmeade. Any magic beans vines that touched these golden characters withered and died rapidly from the roots without exception, eventually turning directly into wisps of fine dust and dissipating into the air.
The development of events before her eyes was so fast that before Adelaide could make any reaction, the magic beans vines that had been spreading everywhere vanished without a trace, leaving only those twenty-one Death Eaters, still deep in coma, lying scattered across the ground.
The crisis was finally resolved. Dumbledore's wise and deep gaze swept over the crowd as he nodded slightly, his mind already beginning to conceive a new strategic layout.
The effects produced by the mutated magic beans vines Adelaide had created were simply beyond imagination, so powerful they were staggering—and because of this, Dumbledore worried they might alert the Death Eaters, leading to a passive situation in subsequent actions.
After a moment of thought, Dumbledore spoke steadily, "Miss Rosier, you and Adelaide will stay here for the time being. You are responsible for guarding these captives we have subdued. Make sure they do not escape or send any messages out."
Then he turned his gaze to a young Wizengamot member and continued, "Mr. Green, please perform Apparition immediately to St Mungos Hospital and inform the medical staff there that at least twenty-one patients poisoned by an unknown plant toxin have appeared in Hogsmeade and need urgent treatment."
After arranging the tasks for these two, Dumbledore looked around at the others, waved his hand, and ordered loudly, "The rest of you, act according to the original plan. Follow me to the location of the vanishing cabinet and wipe out that secret stronghold of the Death Eaters in one fell swoop!"
Adelaide, who had caused the trouble, didn't dare to argue with Dumbledore about anything. She could only choose to obey the assignment, walking aggrievedly to the unconscious Death Eaters to confiscate their wands.
