The second classroom had Theigon, Basil Morgan, Mateni Tarima and Raven Perma.
Theigon pulled back his long and thick green hair on the back of his head. He stepped up on the desk, rifle in his hands, as all the others began running around, tearing up the place. Theigon shoots a gun to calm them down.
"What was I, a tool? I would have helped so much around, killing those who I thought needed to be killed so the world could be better off. You. You're the one who started this, Basil Morgan."
"I don't remember ordering you to follow my orders."
"You used to be great, that's why. But don't fret I know what you're made of. We're all disposable. I was never the man I wanted to become but rather the product of those around me, never for me to live a life of completion and accomplishments. I was reeled into this trafficking thing, losing my precious time, my younger years, and you people cannot even act with decency. Where is the gratefulness in this? When the black angels killed everyone and I died. Nobody cared. I had blood...blood on my face and on my hands. Secretely I prayed, aimelessely, didn't even know what I wanted from who. But to whoever was listening, I would submit to. For a moment of serenity. Don't you think I was scared as well? I was terrified, most of the time, but I couldn't bring myself to shake, for the missions required me to stay focused. I wanted to end it all, and yet, here I am. Back in the game for some more. I had a family too, you know."
"And for all the weapons you slid at the borders, I want to say thank you", Basil Morgan bowed, to mock him.
Theigon aims at his face and shoots twice.
"You're welcome. Now you two love birds. Raven you don't have Blitzkrieg, and you, Mateni Tarima, you can't exactly dig up in here. Both of you sit. Both of you. I hate you. Not personal, I just...loathe you for good reasons."
"Talk, Theigon. You don't have to kill", Raven silently advised.
"There it is again. The orders. The lies. Of course I need to kill. Now that it's me with you, the kingand his pawns, now that you can't order me around, you're scared. So young, so innocent. Right? "Let's use Theigon, we know he's here. He'll help! That's what he does." Like the retard I am, I help. Because what else can I do? Letting people die? Unlike me."
"What about Basil?" Mateni asked.
"Deserved. It's time to end this. We don't have our place in here, our time is long gone, we're past the due date, all of us. We can't just lie to ourselves and each others any longer that Perseus is our home. Ismael brought us here and now we're officially too far gone. War is inside."
Theigon holds the gun to his temple and shoots his brains out, scaring the other classrooms. Raven and Mateni held each others tight, looking away.
A hand reached out from below, holding the teacher's desk. Theigon rose and stared into their eyes.
"I'll live. And I'll tell Ismael that I'm the immortal sniper now. Now", he says, climbing up the desk, holding the weapon firmly in his right hand, aimikg at them. "Kneel. You have a king in your presence. Honor him."
"How will you ever live knowing you've killed your only friends? I thought you were done with killing."
"I am. This isn't killing. This is cleaning up the mess. Get on your knees. Both of you."
They obeyed, just sitting comfortably. Raven asked.
"What is the next step?"
"Take down Ismael who trapped me in this hole. Now. What have you learned today?"
"We learned that you're a psychopath. But that's a given considering where we come from."
Theigon shoots Mateni Tarima straight in the forehead and aims back at Raven.
"I asked you a simple question. What did we learn?"
"Teacher sucks, I didn't learn anything."
"You should have listened. Or ask a classmate."
Theigon reloads and stares into her silver eyes, developping first a smile and then a demented laugh.
"I won't be human. Ever."
He takes down his weapon and puts it back into his belt, thinking, while Raven holds the corpse of Mateni in her arms.
"Shit you really liked this pretentious moron, huh? Who was he for you? Why do you care so much if he died? Don't make me go on a tangent, it would be awkward. Actually, yeah, drop it. I don't care. You will remain here, holdikg skeleton until you expiate for your sins the witch's way. You'll earn your place, you evil killer."
Time passed, Theigon could hear the sound of Raven's fingers passing in the blood of his face. She eventually hid the two bodies in the back of the amphitheater, all the way up and came to Theigon's table where he was sitting.
"Any questions? You didn't pass, you know. You're going to be held back."
"I don't care about...all this shit. What do you know about this place?"
"Nothing. Maybe because I'm a Cardinal, I can sense it, but someone here is making all of this possible. While you remain here, I'll be far away, fighting like I always have."
"And what will you do, once Ismael is dead?"
"I'll do whatever."
"How does that even work for a plan? You don't know? You kill him, celebrate and then gove up hope?"
"Why do you think Loovis was keeping the Cardinals in the castle so much?"
"How should I know?"
"Because for what's out there, simply exploring is not good enough of an excuse. You don't have to hate me for what I did, Raven. I'm protecting you, keeping you safe."
"You? Surely it cannot be that bad."
"It is. I can sense it. Something is lurking in a domain, at the far end of Perseus. And it's waiting for newcomers to show up."
