Chapter 247 - Chapter 46: Very Fresh

Pop.

The man pretentiously and elegantly raised the long-handled iron hammer in his hand, lowered his shoulders, bowed his head, and aimed at the gravel on the ground—

Pop.

The golf ball (pebble) was hit far away.

Jonathan shaded his eyes with his palm and looked—actually, this burial chamber wasn't big at all.

"You mean, they pull the internal organs out and put them in jars?" The brother was having an episode. Mori Tsukisa and the maid were wandering around following that little black cat, while Evelyn sat on a wooden crate, educating OConnell with strange knowledge.

"Of course, and your heart as well." Speaking of mummies, Evelyn's face was beaming with excitement. "Do you know how they get the brains out?"

"Dear sister, I don't think you need to tell us this." Jonathan, with a look of disgust, placed another pebble in front of his feet, wiggled his hips, lowered the wooden handle, and aimed at the stone.

"Just dig, just dig, okay? Don't tell me about this."

"Stick a red-hot fire poker into your nostril..."

"Oh no..."

"Stir the brains a bit, then pull... hard!" As the woman spoke, she even gestured the motions of'stirring' and 'pulling' with her hands.

"Don't worry, you'd be dead by then."

Jonathan raised the hammer head high. "I'm not worried at all, sister. If you could just close your cute little mouth and rest for a bit, that would be even better."

Pop.

Another pebble was sent flying—

Rumble!

The sound of a massive heavy object crashing down.

Gravel poured down.

Behind the three of them, a pitch-black sarcophagus fell along with the pouring rain of sand.

Thud.

Clatter, clatter... "Cough, cough, cough... Jonathan..."

"Golf... you can quit starting today..."

Mori Tsukisa stood far away. When that black object fell, the black cat in her arms suddenly spoke: "Planeswalker, that's the one."

"I can feel its ugly and malicious shell."

Ugly?

Bastet squinted. "If you knew why this High Priest was made into a mummy, you'd be disgusted too."

Whether it was disgusting or not was another matter; anyway, Evelyn was very excited. Regarding this surprise that fell from the sky, the woman almost pounced on it.

"Oh my God! It's... it's a sarcophagus!"

"That's right! You actually recognize a sarcophagus!" Jonathan dropped the hammer and winked at his sister. "What an eye-opener! If you hadn't said it, I would have thought it was a flying camel!"

"Shut up, brother. If you were slightly off just now..."

As she spoke, more ribbon-like yellow sand poured down continuously.

"...it would have hit me."

The several people approached with small steps.

"Buried at the feet of the God of Death," Evelyn looked up at the position of the mechanism thoughtfully. "If he wasn't of distinguished birth, then he... committed a heinous crime."

Bastet looked at Mori Tsukisa, her eyes full of'See, I told you so' and similar meanings. The young girl gripped the cat's mouth and head, forcing it to be quiet.

The yellow sand dispersed under the light strokes of the brush, and the scriptures engraved on the sarcophagus were gradually revealed... 'He is not worthy of a name.'

Puff—

Evelyn blew a breath of air, revealing an octagonal metal lock that was deeply recessed inward.

"The key! Little Sen! Your key!" Evelyn jumped in place with joy and hurriedly turned around to pull Mori Tsukisa. "That box of ours! It can open it!"

"Right here." Jonathan boastfully held up the octagonal box, but as a result, he didn't receive a friendly look.

"Jonathan!!"

"Damn it! You stole something again!" Evelyn was truly angry this time, punching and kicking as she shoved the innocent-looking Jonathan. "I said it! I told you! If you target Little Sen again, you're dead!"

"I'm your brother... Evelyn! Stop! That's my nose bridge!"

"Little Sen is my sister too!"

"She's not your blood sister, but I am your blood brother... my blood nose bridge!" Jonathan dodged while pushing OConnell, trying to use the man to block his sister, who was already showing her canines.

In the end, he was grabbed by OConnell and handed over to the woman.

"Blood brother? I'm not so sure right now! Jonathan!"

Holding his head and enduring the rain-like punches, Jonathan still had time to peek through a gap with one eye and shout to Mori Tsukisa, who was watching the show nearby: "Little Sen! Oh my God, stop her! Tell Evelyn that you gave me the key!"

"Damn it, Evelyn! She gave it to me!"

It was indeed Mori Tsukisa who had given it to Jonathan.

To steal something from her, Jonathan didn't have that kind of ability yet.

The young girl walked over and, under the gaze of the three people, blinked, clutched the hem of her shirt, and gently shook her head. "I... I don't remember..."

"Don't hit him anymore."

"Maybe... let's just say I gave it to Jonathan?"

Evelyn got even angrier.

"What do you mean 'let's just say'?! Don't cover for my brother; he just loves stealing!"

She hit him even harder.

"Mori Tsukisa! You set me up!" The Horse-faced Uncle's screams lasted for a long time... "You just don't trust me anyway."

Jonathan, covered in black and blue bruises, stood to one side looking sheepish as he pushed the coffin, while OConnell pushed from the other side.

"I trust you, of course, brother, as long as you fix your little habit."

"That's not a habit, it's a skill. Do you think just anyone can master it?"

"No one is as shameless as you, brother."

The several people spent a long time exerting effort just to stand the coffin up, then they opened the octagonal box and aligned it with the identical indentation on the coffin.

It fit in perfectly without a gap.

With a click, the box locked inside—Jonathan hurriedly stopped and tried to take the box back off, but after picking at it for a long time, the eight metal plates engraved with patterns didn't budge an inch.

It was as if they were glued on.

The dejected man had no choice but to shake his head at Evelyn.

"Meaning, if we don't turn it, we can't take this box off?" OConnell frowned. Ever since he saw this thing, he had been having an uncomfortable feeling.

"We are definitely going to turn it."

Evelyn looked at the upright mummy coffin and walked over fervently and with longing. "Since I was a Child... I've dreamed of this moment!"

After OConnell ensured that the very heavy object wouldn't fall, he stepped back to the side, letting his girl look to her heart's content.

"Your dream is a dried corpse?"

"Of course, do you have any objections?" Evelyn stared closely at the middle. The interior coffin was also carved in the form of a mummy. Below the crossed arms, the area that should have been smooth or engraved with words was a blurred mess.

"His Sacred Laws were chiseled away." Evelyn's palm pressed against the coffin as she felt the deep carvings on the surface with a serious expression. "This person will be cursed not only in this life, but in the next life as well."

Jonathan said dismissively, "Oh, how unfortunate."

OConnell followed suit dismissively, "I'm almost in tears."

"Hurry up and turn it, brother." Evelyn took two steps back. "I bet you two definitely had bad grades in school."

Jonathan gripped the octagonal box and gritted his teeth as he turned it—

"That..."

Click-clack.

"Depends on..."

Click-clack.

"What grades..."

Click-clack.

"...you mean."

Bam!

Pale gray dust shot out from the gaps like thick fog. After the coffin lid slid open... a deafening thud, accompanied by heavy yellow sand, and a dried corpse popped out.

"F***!"

"I just hate those expressions of theirs!"

Mori Tsukisa covered her ears and looked at Evelyn, who was swearing while backing away, and then at the mummy that had popped out.

"Hmm... he's actually quite handsome."

Bastet was about to have a breakdown.

"You call this hideous, terrifying dried corpse that's nothing but bone... handsome?"

"Yeah." The young girl framed it with her two index fingers. "The facial bones are symmetrical, and the proportions are perfect. I bet he was a real hunk when he still had flesh."

The black cat jumped out of her arms and, as if not believing it, ran closer to the mummy with its rear sticking in the air to inspect it.

OConnell looked at Evelyn solemnly and said pointedly, "Is this thing... right?"

Evelyn also found it a bit strange.

"I've never seen a mummy like this..."

"Never."

"It..."

"So fresh."
