Itachi dodged Tobirama's sword as he backed away, panting a little. Unlike his present self, the current Itachi clone only had Elite-Jonin-level chakra, and using one Kage-level ninjutsu after another was a huge burden on him.
"As expected of an Uchiha surpassing even big brother. I still have to use that jutsu. I didn't want to use it, but I don't want to waste any more time."

Itachi, on the top floor, looked at the scene below with a smile. His twelve-year-old clone was really not capable of defeating Tobirama, and if they had fought in real life, it would have been a 90% chance of defeat for him.
But he had simply exploited Tobirama's abundance of knowledge. It's true that a clone can't perform Izanagi or Izanami. Tobirama knew this; thus, after defeating him, he wasn't that alert. Also, the anchor's announcement was another distraction for Tobirama, which became the end of his life.
As for why his clone could perform Izanagi.... well, it couldn't on its own. It's just that, before the match, he had already planted two Three-tomoe Sharingan in it. As for whether this is cheating.... well, the twelve-year-old Itachi also had the Three-tomoe Sharingan and Izanagi, so it isn't cheating.
As for the source of the eyes.... they were from the parallel world given to him by Izumi.

A Uchiha can NEVER be trusted. He believed that Itachi wouldn't cheat in such a big event and wouldn't sacrifice a pair of three-tomoe Sharingan just for the sake of defeating him. But, he underestimated him.
While thinking this, Tobirama teleported to the arena, sitting on his seat while waiting for the next contestant to arrive. As for why not complain.....he doesn't have the right to complain. All he can do is to learn all about Itachi and move towards his goal of defeating him and Mizumori.

I wanted to clarify a few things about this fight.
In my opinion, Tobirama here is at the peak of Kage level, or even half a step into Super Kage level. A 12-year-old Itachi ( here ), on the other hand, is at most low to mid Kage level. At that age, he doesn't possess many of his later signature abilities, such as the Chidori variants, Rasengan variants, or other famous S-rank techniques. Meanwhile, Tobirama has access to numerous powerful forbidden jutsu. Because of that, I believe Tobirama should realistically be able to easily defeat a 12-year-old Itachi.
However, from a storytelling perspective, I felt that having Tobirama simply defeat Itachi would make the battle and plot less interesting. That's why I included Izanagi to change the outcome.
Now, regarding Izanagi itself.
The Naruto canon never clearly states whether a shadow clone can use Izanagi or, if it can, whether the consequences are transferred to the original body. Because of that, the mechanic is open to interpretation.
Personally, I don't think a shadow clone should be able to use Izanagi. It doesn't seem logical to me. If clones could freely activate Izanagi without affecting the original user, then the Uchiha could simply create shadow clones and repeatedly spam Izanagi, making the technique far more broken than it is portrayed in the series.
Anyway this fight is over and let's wait for Hashirama's battle
