Synopsis
Fire Force fanfic! I can't find one, so here I am. I started this as a way to get back into writing. Don't expect a regular upload schedule. I'm only writing chapters if I get inspired or if I get any cool ideas for it. I don't have anything planned, and I'm creating the story on the fly. MC is overpowered, Love interest is going to Iris, probably.

'Ugh, my head hurts, where am I?' A boy around 16 or 17 years old looked around while holding his head

'Where am I? This is not my room, or a hospital room.' He started feeling himself, 'this feels odd. I feel like I'm different. How am I in one piece? I clearly remember getting hit by a truck.'

He got a closer look around the room. It was small with a window on one side and a small desk under it. On the opposite side of the window, there was a door. The room itself only had a bed, a wardrobe, the desk under the window with a chair, and a bedside table.

'Yeah, this is definitely not my room.'

Wanting to investigate more, the boy got up and started walking around the room, looking for something that might let him know where he was.

On the bedside table, there was a folded newspaper. He grabbed it and started flipping through it. The first thing he saw on the front page was "Amaterasu is operating at normal capacity."

"What the fuck?" He couldn't help but whisper to himself

'Amaterasu is operating at normal capacity? Wait, wait, hold on a moment. I remember that statement. It's the same one repeated in that anime, Fire Force. Why is it here? Is this a prop or something? Please be a prop.'

He then walked to the window and opened the blinds

'I'll be damned.' In front of him, he could see what looked like a nuclear power plant. It was white in color with two towers on either side of it.

'Am I in Fire Force? What the hell happened to me? How did I end up in a world where people can turn into infernals suddenly without any warning. How in the fuck did this happen? Oh my God, and there is this whole evangelist shit show. Damn! I only watched up to season two; I don't even know anything about the third season. I heard some rumors here and there about some things, but I genuinely don't remember much. Shit! I don't remember much about the first and second seasons either. I watched them a long time ago.'

He was so confused and worried that he couldn't help but slump back on the bed.

'This is no joke. Some crazy group wants to destroy the world. People are turning into living fires that fight and destroy.' He rubbed his eyes, trying to hold back from screaming.

'I need to figure out what point in time I'm in right now.'

He picked up the newspaper again and looked at the very top corner. 'March 6, 197. This newspaper could be a few days old, but still. I know what year I'm in. I'm here a whole year before the start of the story, I think. Ok, now I need to figure out where exactly I am.'

Getting off the bed again, he walked to the mirror hanging next to the small wardrobe.

He saw his new self in the mirror. He was around six feet tall, slightly pale with jet black hair and deep golden eyes. He can tell that he has a strong body. But that didn't matter; what caught his attention was the outfit he was wearing. It's an orange jumpsuit.

'So I already am in a special fire force company.' Then something on his shoulder caught his eye. 'No, that emblem on my shoulder says 'student'. So I'm in the academy? I should take a look around the room.'

He looked around the room a little more he found some papers, ID, and a few other things. He was looking at the ID. It had his picture, or rather the picture of his new body.

'Chrollo Lucilfer. Is my name Chrollo Lucilfer? The ID says that it is.' Looking at the ID, it hammered in the idea that he was in a different world, in a different body, with a new name.

'God, I know I said I was bored with my past life, but I didn't want to be in a world where people catch on fire randomly,' Chrollo lamented.

'I should leave the room and check out my surroundings'

Just as he approached the door to leave the room, something caught his eye. A small lamp on his desk. The lamp had a small fire flickering about, almost like it's about to die out.

That's when he felt it. A small buzzing sound in his head, the buzzing kept spreading until he felt his entire body buzzing. And then memories came rushing in. The memories of this body, the memories of the original Chrollo. Those memories didn't fuse into him or change who he is. It wasn't like those stories about two people fusing. Rather, it was like watching a movie.

He was fine after gaining those memories.

Then a second set of information came rushing in. It was information about his ability, the old one and the new one.

This time, Chrollo felt pain. He fell to his knees, panting, sweat drops rolling down his back. 'That was intense.'

After getting back up and sitting on the chair next to him, he decided to think back to the information he gained about his abilities.

The original Chrollo was a third gen with a pretty basic but powerful ability. He could shoot jet streams of fire from any part of his body. He also had an exceptionally high fire resistance, higher than most third gens.

'But for some reason, when I took over, that ability is lost, or rather, since it wasn't mine, I don't have it anymore. As it currently stands, I'm not a third-gen. I'm a normal person. But that's not all. I have this ability.'

The new ability he gained when he crossed over; his gift. The eight-pointed star.

'The eight-pointed star is a symbol of rebirth, new beginnings and a sign of divinity. The symbolism is good and all, but what does the ability actually do? It allows me to copy eight different abilities.'

Turning his chair around, his eyes drifted to the Amaterasu in the distance, with smoke coming out of it.

'If I'm really in this world, I have one of two options. I could either quit and hide or jump into the thick of it. But regardless of what I pick, I can't change my mind later. If I choose to hide, then I'll hide and avoid fighting, no matter what. I was never the smart, scheming type. I'm straightforward, and I will stay that way. If I choose to get involved, then I won't be someone hiding behind the scenes, only moving when things get ugly. I'm going to stay in the middle of it all, because that is what I would want.'

Chrollo looked down at his hands, he knew what his strengths were, and he planned to focus on them. 'If I'm going to do this, then I should get my hands on some abilities now. I mean, people around me know I'm a third-gen after all. If I'm put in a position where I have to use my abilities but can't, that would definitely raise suspicions.'

'But I only have eight slots, and once an ability takes a slot, it can't be deleted or swapped, so I have to be careful. Which eight abilities do I want to copy? For sure, Captain Benimaru. He's a second and third gen. That's a two-in-one combo. I should get the abilities of that idiot Arthur. I should also get the abilities of Captain Burns, I mean, the guy was like an endless supply of fire and heat. That makes three. The fourth one is not combat-oriented, and it only appeared for a very short time, but I want it. Then there is this one other guy in the academy that has an ability I also want.'

'So, that makes it five. I think I'll leave the other three slots free for now; maybe in the future, I'll come across an ability that I would want. I should head out now and go get my hands on those abilities. We have a one-week break before the exams and then graduation. I wouldn't be able to take the exams if I don't have an ability.'

With that, Chrollo left the room. He is currently in the academy, which is run by the 4th. But based on his memory, the students are on a break. This works perfectly since he has the freedom to leave the academy and go hunting for the abilities he wants. Even better, two of the five abilities he wanted were in the academy and he can get his hands on them.

He went searching around the academy for a while. But he didn't find his first target. 'Did he leave the academy during the break? Alright, I'll just move on to target number two.'

After walking down the hall for a bit, he heard it

"I'll slay you, devil!"

"Damn you! You stupid knight, do you want to fight!"

'Here they are,' Chollo turned around the corner into an empty area, mostly used for training. And there they were. Two of the future members of company 8. The protagonist Shinra Kusakabe and the guy who has a great ability, but a simple brain, Arthur Boyle.

Chrollo got to put his eight-pointed star to the test. The activation and copying requirements were very simple. All he has to do is watch someone use their ability for one second and think about copying that ability. That's it.

And that is exactly what Chrollo did. He watched as Arthur used his "Excalibur" to fight with Shinra.

Chrollo could feel heat coursing through his entire body; a sign that the ability was copied successfully. He didn't waste anymore time watching them fight. If things take their natural path, he'll see their fights more than enough in the future.
