Chapter 81. A very sensual Mistake
Lily pov
"Hey..." I offered weakly.
Nothing. Just the crackle of a stray spark.
"Axis... are you okay?"
Silence stretched between us, heavy and suffocating.
I swallowed hard, my hands fidgeting inside my heavy fur sleeves. "You know... it's not your fault. We... ah, wait!"
A sudden realization struck me like a bolt of lightning. I quickly pulled back the thick collar of my bear coat, checking my skin, then glanced down toward my waist.
"There are no marks on me! So... so nothing really happened, right?!" I blurted out, a wave of desperate relief washing over me as I remembered seeing no new beast marks anywhere on my skin.
At the sound of my words, Axis stopped poking the fire.
The room went dead silent.
Slowly, deliberately, Axis turned his head. He looked up at me, his face cast in a terrifying, shadow draped darkness, his newly sprouted antlers crowning his head like a dark halo.
