It was Friday morning, the official start of the midterm break. Lyra adjusted the strap of her backpack as she stepped out of the girls' dormitory.
"You ready?" Sienna asked, dragging her suitcase behind her.
"Almost."
Her eyes wandered over the courtyard where students gathered in little group. She hadn't heard a single word from Kieran.
Sienna had told her to talk to him, to confess how she felt, but she couldn't exactly confess to someone who was nowhere to be found.
She didn't want to leave like that either. She couldn't spend the entire holiday staring at the wall in her bedroom, wondering what went wrong.
"Well?" Sienna asked, her eyes scanning Lyra's face. "Are you looking for him?"
"It's... whatever. He's probably already gone home, or wherever it is he does for the holidays. Who knows."
"Hey, don't do that. Don't build up those walls. If he wants to pull a disappearing act after everything, that's on him. "
