I sat on the rocking chair, staring blankly out the large window as the soft morning rays slowly settled against my face. Golden sunlight spilled beautifully across the room, painting everything in warm colors, while the cool breeze gently pushed against the white curtains.
But no matter how beautiful the morning looked, I couldn't see it.
Couldn't feel it.
Everything inside me felt painfully empty.
I really wished all of this was just some terrible nightmare — one I would eventually wake up from and slowly forget after a few miserable days.
But this was real.
Painfully real.
And Xavier…
I was sure he hated me even more now.
Just when I thought I was finally getting closer to my goal, when things between us were slowly changing, everything suddenly turned into a complete nightmare.
